With a massive bunch of flowers and I just- I don't want to wake up.

I'm going to show off my legs, hide my face and hope no one realizes how much I'm freaking out because it's our first official date.

We went out shopping for our costumes today. :3

Can you feel my happiness? If you could see me right now, I’m grinning like an idiot. I think I haven’t felt this happy in a long while… is it a good thing? Maybe.

There were certain moments today when I really want to tell him how I feel but… I don’t want to ruin it, what if he doesn’t feel the same way?

OKAY I AM RUINING THIS HAPPY MOMENT WITH MY THOUGHTS.

Anyway,

We got matching outfits and oh boy, he really looked good in that suit. I mean I know I think all men in suits look fine but he looked super extra fine, you have to trust me diary. Just wow.

I’m so excited for our date now. Can’t the party be here already?!”

Whatever he says goes;

Little Minji held on to this motto ever since she realised that she had feelings for him. She was not 10 years of age yet, too young to know what love is but was already very fond of Kyuhyun oppa. It began that afternoon she requested for a lullaby, the young girl drifted off to sleep with a satisfied smile on her lips. Ever since then, Minji strived to make him like her a lot so she did everything he asked, went the extra mile just so he would be happy. Her way of showing how much she liked him without explicitly saying it out loud (she was too shy to do so). Plus, seeing him smile made all the effort worth it. It might have been a silly crush on her part but it definitely made their childhood memorable. To her at least. 

Surprisingly, this motto lives on even after puberty hits. Even after the feelings were supposed to have gone away. A crush she once thought had faded, now resurfaced, as though it hid deep inside her chest throughout his absence and stayed latent until an opportune moment came along where it decides to spring up. 

Whatever oppa says goes.

Which is why she found herself standing in front of the full body mirror, dressed in nothing but something the birthday boy wanted to see her in. Twisting her body right and left to check if it was okay, the ivory Victoria Secret slip was a tad revealing. Minji’s cheeks grew pink at the sight and she laughed, running her fingers through her red locks. This must have been the most embarrassing thing ever, besides the time she dressed up as dominatrix at that costume shop. 

Taking in a deep breath, she held up her polaroid camera steadily before she could change her mind about this and finished the whole box of recently purchased film within fives minutes. Placing all ten pictures on her bed, Minji threw on an oversized shirt while waiting for them to develop. Some were selcas, some were her reflection on the mirror. She had a hard time choosing them so she let fate decide.

Upon seeing the single digit, she heaved a sigh of relief. Thank God. Just three embarrassing polaroids. Minji picked the best three, slipped it into an envelope along with a birthday card. They were going to meet for dinner so she made a mental note to deposit it into his mailbox before leaving his place. The last thing she wanted was him teasing her about the pictures over dinner. 

It was not until she reached home that she informed him about the ‘gift’ waiting for him in his mail box, especially after receiving his complaint text.

‘Yah, where’s my birthday present? You still owe me one.’

Keep warm, oppa;

Minji had a tough time deciding whether or not to send the package [ ♡ ] that settled on her study table. The past week, she had been carrying the box whenever she was out, contemplating to send it to the post office or not. It contained a sweater [ ♡ ] (because she gave up knitting one herself) and a card [ ♡ ] with well wishes, Christmas greetings written on it... even though she was fully aware he was not a big fan of the festive season.

Christmas was just around the corner and she had yet to hear from him. With each passing day, the possibility of them reconciling seemed bleak but Minji did not want to give up yet. She thought maybe the present would soften him up somehow, make him stop ignoring her, or at least show that she had not forgotten about him. He was her bestfriend after all. There was never a day Minji did not think about him throughout the entire period of his absence. She wanted him back and this present was her first step of breaking the ice between them.

Minji stopped by the post office on the way to Soundbox studio before her very first lesson. Sending the package posed as a distraction for her nerves. She checked the address countless of times, ensuring that it was correct and written legibly while she waited for her turn. Giving this face to face would have been more sincere but the last thing she wanted was to ruin Christmas with her presence. She left his present in the hands of the courier, trusting that it would reach him safely and as soon as the box disappeared from her sight, it was as though a weight was lifted off her shoulders. No matter what happens after this, at least Minji knew she tried.

Missed opportunities;

The day began with a nagging feeling. It had been bugging her ever since breakfast. As she stirred her coffee, Minji knew there was something she must be forgetting. Something important. Drained from yesterday’s long dance practice, her memory was not at its peak. She could not seem to recall what it was no matter how much she tried. She sought help from her planner or diary but nothing had been jotted down for that day. The whole page empty meant the day was free. Convinced that she was just thinking too much, she decided to shrug it off and moved on with her day as per normal. 

Maybe it was not so important after all.

It turned out to be of utmost importance, contrary to what she thought earlier. She only realized this upon receiving a message from a friend.

Hey, how did the interview go? 

Minji’s hand started shaking, it was way past 7pm, the interview would have ended by now. Her only hope was if they held another one tomorrow. She went on the web to check out the schedule and just as she feared, that day was the last interview for the Starbright auditions. 

I forgot... I missed the interview...

Minji gave out a long sigh, silently cursing herself for being so absent-minded. Memories of her previous experience flooded her mind and the young dancer curled herself up on the couch in an attempt to block them all out. 

Firstly, she had failed the last Starbright casting audition. Sphere never contacted her back. 

She also rejected the contract offer from Nova last April, following her father’s advice even though she wanted to be in Nova ever since she heard about the company.

He spoke of other opportunities when they discussed about it. She remembered that quite clearly as Minji always held on to the hope that some day another chance would appear and allow her to advance, just a step closer to her dreams. This interview could have been her third chance to enter the entertainment industry. It might be the last... but it might not. The uncertainty only made her feel worse. 

If only she had taken up Nova’s offer, if only she had not forgotten about the casting interview, maybe she would not be curled up on the couch, wasting tears over something beyond her control. Minji never imagined chasing her dreams to be so challenging - was it God’s sign telling her to stop?

For the sake of a pizza party;

“Beef pepperoni, cheese, and more beef pepperoni, please,” Minji requested, smiling as genuinely as she can at the staff member preparing the pizza for her. While waiting, she glanced over at her friends. All of them had completed filming. She was the final one to do this. Minji’s facial expression changed as her friends made eye contact. She frowned and jutted her lower lip out, contrasting the smile she had on earlier. 

Nervous, she mouthed, patting her chest. Her heart beat was faster than usual. Upon seeing this, her friends held their fists up with determined looks on their faces. You can do it. Hwaiting. Think of free pizza. They mouthed various words of encouragement but it did nothing to soothe Minji’s nerves. Minji thought filming this CF with her friends would be fun but after realizing that they had to do it solo… it turned out to be stressful rather than exciting. Nevertheless, it was a new experience for the dancer who had no experience in acting.  

The staff ushered her to the set afterwards and immediately the director wasted no time to give her instructions. Minji opted for the dinner table despite the whole kitchen layout. Her concept was simple since she only had 30 seconds. There was absolutely no time for a fake cooking show or meddling with kitchen utensils. After some adjustments and explaining what she planned to do, the camera started rolling.

The first take mainly consisted of Minji blinking at the camera. Her mind went totally blank. NG. Second take, mostly filled with her stammering. NG. It took her a minute to recover, taking in deep breaths to calm herself and focus on the task. Determined to finish it during the third take, she pulled herself together, ignoring the fact that there were cameras and staff all around. For now, it was just her, the pizza… and her phone.

“Wait! Don’t touch it,” Minji began, a stern expression on her face as she waggled a finger at the camera. “No touching until I’m done taking pictures.” Quickly, she lifted the lid of the pizza box, retrieved her phone and then proceeded to snap pictures at various angles. Her face lit up once a perfect shot came into view which was when she stopped to grab a slice. Taking a huge bite out of the pizza slice, her attention went back to her mobile phone again. “I need to upload this on Instagram,” she selected the most recent picture in her gallery and typed the caption using one hand, “Look at my pizza~ Hashtag mine... hashtag dominos pizza jjang… hashtag no filter… upload!”

After the successfully publishing the post, the director cut the scene and allowed her to leave with the box of cold pizza. Relieved after that nerve-wrecking recording, Minji ran back to her friends who were all waiting for her impatiently with their own boxes of pizza. “Sorry for the wait, too many NGs. But we’re all done now, let’s go have our pizza party girls!”
