Found an old Madness Returns/Amnesia rp tidbit I was really proud of. I really want to write for this crossover, even the timelines match up pretty nicely, I'm only saying. ---- It hadn’t been long since the darkness of the ominous hallways had concealed him from the monsters' sights. Certainly not long since he had run out of tinder, and his lantern dimmed with the lack of oil. He’d hidden away, desperately flicking the bits of flint to a candle. And then the monster heard him. It was such a surprise, the first time to see such a massive thing hulk its way into the room. It’s presence brought a reeking stench of something vile. It sickened the man as he struggled to remain in his crouched position, behind a set of drawers, struggling to keep the bile from bursting from his throat. Less than a moment, and it was too much, the man felt the crushing weight of his paranoia, of the nausea that twisted his stomach, lurch him backwards. He had laid prone to his side, one hand clapped over his mouth and the other clutching his oily hair with a shaky, sweaty hand. He murmured incoherently at that time, repeating what he always considered the only way to alleviate his intense panic since he'd woken a broken amnesiac. “My name is Daniel. I live in Mayfair. Daniel … Daniel from Mayfair…" he stuttered, jerking in surprise when the monster responded with a hazardous gurgle. The man--Daniel--, curled tighter into his position as he heard the monster lumbering closer, his words quieter but spoken with much vigor. “I am DANIEL… Mayfair…”
And then he was floating, falling with delicate precision towards an unknown ground. His arms held up at shoulder level, legs bent in anticipation at the heavy drop, and his head tilting to the swirling haze filling his mind. Daniel faintly noted the odd black and red checkered patterns of ribbon-like material fluttering to his sides, the oddly distinct ticking of faded clocks, and the empty abyss that widened and narrowed in gentle undulation as he fell. It seemed that it would never end, and Daniel wasn’t sure he minded, caught up in its soft basking currents, a more pleasant contrast to his unceasing madness back at Brennenburg Castle. Suddenly his feet were on the ground, planted firmly on top of soft lush blue grass and powdered chocolate colored dirt. For a moment, he wondered if this dreamland were candy based, as upon examination, the dirt was indeed chocolate in taste as the grass was a semi flavorless but a vaguely sweet condiment. And how else would he have concluded that stooping over to eat the dirt below his feet would be a sane thing to do assuming where he was wasn't a dream? However, after the momentary pause, he shrugged it off as a clue to his accute madness. This was all a dream. The panic and fear he felt back in the real world must have been too much this time. At least now though, one of these odd dreams could be tacked with a reason.
And that’s where he was found, having stood up and examined the ground and the first few sets of doors that hung solidly with no support in midair, save for the times where the flickering image of rich dark red wood walls, etched intricately with ivy and summer blossoms would appear and quickly disappear. It was where, when hearing the demand from a familiar female voice, he turned at sluggish attention, as though a dazed dreamer unfazed by the absurdities of his nightly visions. “I am Daniel, I come from Mayfair….DANIEL … MAYFAIR… I must find Alexander…” He uttered barely above a whisper, “I must kill Alexander…”
