WAYS TO REACT TO AN INJURY   // accepting!

    (  eden yaki is floating.  miles and miles below the beloved surface, eden is floating above herself, above a girl they call ten thousand and eight.  without and within herself, eden wonders what comes next.  out cold kamabo’s back rooms, with a yellow band around her wrist that reminds her - you are a test subject.  you are not eden yaki.  you are no one.  )

      silver eyes shoot open; then, eight gasps in too thin air, lungs burning.  she tries, desperately to look around - where is cuttlefish, where is the old man she’s come to call a friend - where is she?  none of those could be answered, as her attempts to move only garner her pain, as her side alights angrily.  what happened...?  

     ever rebellious, she is reminded by the angry claw marks in her side, she had found herself sneaking off where she did not belong.  exploring the parts of kamabo co. that could have her killed - or sanitized.  of course, she was caught, and though she fought off her too-clean attackers, eight was left with a wound that she finds is now conspicuously bandaged. 

       then, the voice.  try not to move only sends her flying.  eight jumps, despite herself, only spotting the sickly green with fright in her eyes,  ❛  t-too late for that,  ❜  she tries to joke, but fails miserably,  ❛  w-who are you?  why did you help me?   ❜

It's hope that burns alive in her chest; hope for tomorrow and hope for the promised land. ❛ I mean, not in the way we expected them. There's... a lot more work, involved in peace and freedom. More than I anticipated. But isn't it worth it? Isn't our dream worth it? ❜

They both sit on the floor, Eden cross-legged as they speak. Swirly, soundproofing foam coat the inside of her closet, a makeshift recording studio. With f1sh across from her, their hands still scritch-scratching the discs on their turntables.

Maybe it was a weird place to have a debate this philosophical.

I think f1sh is a straight Whispers Bard. The theming of a Bard of the College of Whispers is that they’re described as thriving on secrets, and I’m reminded of the theory that Dedf1sh just. Lives in the vents of Kamabo Co. Plus, there’s a lot of really cool abilities later in this specialization, like the ability to steal someone’s appearance and use it as a disguise. Feels like something f1sh would enjoy the hell out of.

☁ CLOUD - a soft headcanon

At the end of Splatoon 1’s hero mode, Tsu and her mom have this very quiet moment as the Great Zapfish is restored to Inkopolis. It’s in that moment that they both realize, well, it’s over. The future is now whatever they want to make it. Tsu bawls like a baby in her mom’s arms. 

Eden only returns to the Deep Sea Metro once. A year after the events of Octo Expansion, when it’s really be confirmed that a vast majority of the sanitized octolings are well and truly dead, she brings down candles, forget me nots and roses. In the hub of the metro, she leaves a little shrine, doing last rights for these thousands of lost souls. 

💌 LOVE LETTER - do they like love letters? what kind of messages do they leave for their partner?

Tsu likes the idea of love letters. There’s something so sweet about them! But, ironically, if she were to get one, she might think it’s a prank or fake. For her part, though, Tsu leaves little romantic gestures everywhere. Notes in pockets, songs sent over text, little “i thought of you” things. 

Eden is... an idealist in everything, and yes, that includes love letters. Definitely head over heels for a love letter. And, yes, she’s super sweet and leaves a lot of messages for her partner. It’s adorable!

Apparently--if Wahoo World was any indicator--cephalopods enjoyed scaring each other’s pants off. It wasn’t exactly something that Sanna understood, but they could certainly aid in the peculiar festivity. Unfortunately for the tall octoling who was lagging behind the crowds, she made herself a prime target for scaring. With lit up eyes, Sanna chose their victim from behind a cardboard stand and leapt in front of her.

headcanon hour! // accepting.

Tsu definitely takes to checking in on f1sh to make sure they’re taking care of themself. She remembers having a hard time caring for herself when she came to Inkopolis ( due to a mixture of depression and grief ) and can only imagine how weird and difficult it is for f1sh. She really does want good things for them. 

Eden loves making music with f1sh - it feels like something they both really enjoy, and both can really pour parts of themselves into. It’s collaborative healing, is what it is. That said... Eden also enjoys trying to get f1sh to enjoy other stuff, too, basically wanting them to have the same fun she’s having on the surface.
