Davy Crockett nuclear warhead recoilless rifle
I rode Maximus alone today even though I was nervous.
As soon as I saddled him up and took him off the rail, he started bucking in-hand, but didn’t take off. He actually stopped and looked at me and listened when I told him “no”.
I lunged him, went to get on, and he started bucking, so I lunged him some more, got on, got off, got back on, stood for a long time, then asked him to walk. He didn’t buck anymore after that.
But he was pretty confused and clueless. He mostly wanted to back up. A couple times he started Spanish stepping, because when he doesn’t know what you’re asking he starts pulling out the old party tricks his first trainer taught him.
After I got a little forward momentum a few times while saying “walk” (we’re working on voice commands to bridge the ground-to-saddle gap), I praised him and got off.
