I will forever yearn to be a teenage in the 80s/90s/00s
It feels like I'm missing it but I never had it yk? I wish the material media would be still as popular as before. To be able to buy fashiom magazines and rub your finger to smell the parfumes. To buy comics that are affordable with your friends and talk about the heroes with your friends. To listen to music on your mp3 player, from a cd or a disc To get out on your window to hang out with your friends all night. To have a garage rock band and have rehearsals every week. To have a flip phone that I don't NEED to use to exist, only when it's important. To have a photo camera and make an album with photos of me and my friends.
And for a lot of those things many say that "You can still do those things.". But the stores don't sell magazines anymore, everything is online now. Comics are so expensive that even if I could afford one I couldn't buy the next one with my own money and your friends are not into them so you couldn't talk about it with someone. You can listen to your music on an mp3 player but you get bored of those same songs that keep repeating cuz you attention span is shit. And CD's and discs now are, again, not affordable cuz ppl don't buy them as often. You can't get out of your window or go with your friends cuz your mom will call you to get home. Garage rock band? Ppl will call the police if you make any noise and who even playing instruments anymore? Not ppl that you know and would want a band with you. You can't have a flip phone cuz you need to be ablee to text very fast, know every new tred on tiktok and like your friends story on insta cuz if you don't yiu aren't a true friend and they won't talk to you anymore. Why spend money on a photo cameras when you have a phone? And no one does albums anymore, not the phisical once anyway.
We can't go a week without our phones. And is not even our faults. Without our phones we couldn't to plans where to meet up cuz we live so far away, and our parents wouldn't be able to call us to check on us. We don't need them, yet cuz everyone does use them you can't even try not to.
This is a prison, a prison that we are making ourselves.
