This is The Hares' third studio album, eponymously named and released in the spring of 1967. While not their most diverse work, it's favoured for its laid-back tracklist and earthy production, primarily overseen by Martin Meadows and Gerri Avery (credited as simply "Gerard" on the liner notes). Recording and mixing took place at Martin's home studio in Wiltshire, England, which is also where the photograph featured on the cover was taken.

It is worth noting that the album also features guest pedal steel guitarwork from Texan-Tico musician Toni Cielos, cousin of Eddie Gale and frontman of band Feedback. He and Martin would become close during the sessions, leading to a long list of subsequent musical partnerships between the two.

If your average hippie gives you one flower, Matthias gives you 200 and a metric tonne of hand-picked daisies to go with it. In Matt's world of peace, love and harmony, it's go big or go home - and home is where the heart is, so going big seems like the only option. His fiery attitude and explosive nature is stark against his disdain for confrontation, opting instead to settle all conflicts through means of kissing and making up (both figuratively and literally), though somehow he always seems to end up with more fists in his face than anticipated. The youngest of The Hares - born April 7th, 1945 - Matt has a talent for keeping the band busy with his unpredictable antics. It's a rare sight to catch him sitting still unless he's locked into one of his hobbies or playing music, but when someone needs it, he's quick to hit the brakes and sit with them for as long as they need. Matt's unruly ability to manipulate fire and magma may give him a threatening edge, but it couldn't be further from the truth. Hell, the guy cries whenever he steps on a bug - he truly wouldn't hurt a fly. However, his lack of control over his powers is prone to wreak havoc and leave things in ruin; he's lucky he hasn't killed anyone in the process.... for now.

Lore dump under the cut!!

The Hares were formed c.1964 by Martin Meadows and Gerard Avery, who had met while Mart was on tour around England (Mart had been a solo folkie for a few years prior and put out several records already, under the name of Marty Meadows). A childhood friend of Mart's - one Matthias Fenwick - was quick to want a share of the fun, and essentially irritated Mart into letting him tag along for the band's first gig. Eduardo "Eddie" Gale had been reluctantly dragged along on his cousin Toni Cielos' tour around the UK with his rock band (I'll talk more abt Toni later!). After filling in on lead guitar during a show with Toni, he met Matthias and they hit it off instantly, eventually leading to Eddie joining The Hares as their lead guitarist.
