Metalli-weekend is officially over and I’m sad but had the best time in Denver. These were just my second and third Metallica shows, and the first one was a long time ago, so I was way overdue to see them again.
Highlights reel:
Both nights they sounded amazing but especially on Sunday night. Everyone was in the pocket, it was great.
I have now seen every song from Ride the Lightning live (not counting Escape because they don’t either) EXCEPT for Fade To Black. How??? But thank you Kirk and Rob for playing Trapped Under Ice during Sunday’s doodle.
And speaking of Sunday’s doodle, Kirk singing was the cutest fucking thing ever. He sounded really good too!
Speaking of Kirk, I was somehow able to get tickets to The Collection Live and that is something I won’t soon forget. Especially at the end when Rob came out to jam with Kirk, and Kirk was like, we have a problem, no one’s standing! And then as we were all standing he told us all to actually just come up front against the stage and as we’re all pushing folding chairs out of the way and moving forward he goes “are we allowed to do this? Will the fire department get us in trouble?” Haha too late! And then he played 10 feet in front of my face and I didn’t have to die on the rail for it.
James making fun of the Broncos statue (he called it a donkey) in their stadium because he’s a Raiders fan made me lol because I was also in that stadium absolutely being a hater the whole weekend. For different reasons, I don’t like his team either, but the enemy of my enemy is my friend, etc
Again just seeing so many songs and hearing how fucking good they still sound live, like honestly better than ever.
Bonus: Denver Pride was this weekend so we got to go to the parade on Sunday morning. So much fun and I love that I was able to do both things!
