synopsis & characters.

some say the world was crueler before the apocalypse, and others say the finches made it so. some say that boys kissing boys, women leading instead of being lead, and a lack of “american restaurants” only irritated them when leaving the house for a night on the town, and others disagree, “the damn chirpers” made them believe it. finches only bring the worst of you to the forefront, and none of it is fabricated. for a group of young adults, the thoughts of the creatures is all they’ve ever known, and it’s not because of the apocalypse. birds were birds, and before their arrival, the melody was annoying, not ill-fated. now, the difference was nonexistent.

war rages on with the creatures, invincible as thought. belief is impenetrable, but the mind is not, soldiers are not, and most importantly, the government is not. democracy has withered, and the military is its successor, abloom with a draft, unfurling like an airborne illness. 

for the aforementioned group of young adults, brutality is no cure (unless you’re robbing the wealthy), and war is a side-effect of a heavy dosage of trepidation. no problem can go without being solved, however. sometimes, it just takes the absence of ignorance, and a dog, to decipher it.
