A creature of monumental guile and deception.
A monster's cruelty that rivals the most terrible horrors.
And yet, some seem to forget —
The creature was once small, too.

A follow-up on Thing's first ref
I have decided that its species will be known as Benxoi, and the planet they come from is unspecified.
Below the cut is a breakdown of the anatomy:

The fox had been following for quite some distance, its beady eyes glinting. Rabid, perhaps? No... its gait was too deliberate. Too steady, too sure. The vulpine advanced, crouching. Thinking its selected victim was none the wiser, it paused.
Flesh began to split apart down the fox's visage, from the top of the cranium down to the chest. Red, slimy tendrils poked through a horrible row of gnashing teeth.
This was no mere fox, if it was ever one at all.

I'm stuck at Alex's job because I had an interview, so I brought a sketchbook along and decided to try and design Thing's base form :>
It's probably my first time really rendering and blending with colored pencil, at least to a big extent. I'm so proud of how it turned out 😭

It had been caught in the act, standing over the half-devoured body of a man in the dark evening.
Looking up, the monster froze. Its inky black eyes bore into her, at first unsure of what to do. Faced with the barrel of a gun, anyone would be hesitant. A quiet snarl came from the frightened beast, and it trembled slightly before abruptly bending down, ripping loose another chunk of meat, and attempting its escape with a mouthful of human flesh.
It was going into hiding.
It had little plans of risking its life to kill again.

Standing over the dead lynx, breathing. Panting. Recovering from the long chase after the admittedly determined victim.
But the lynx had been no match for the creature. Down she went, eyes glazing over as her body stilled. She was theirs now.
With a gurgle, it crouched, opening its toothy maw wide and lifting its two tendril-tongues. In a motion that could only be compared to that of a gagging cat, it lurched again and again, and from beneath the tongues spewed a strange, blue fluid. It splattered out onto the lynx and sizzled as it hit flesh. In a matter of seconds, the fur and tissue began to dissolve.
The claiming had begun.

It stands at the kennel gate, ears pricked as it watches the fellow dogs rove about outside or within the other line of cages.
But it isn't like the other dogs. This male dachshund is neither male, nor is it truly a dachshund. It's standing, observing, and taking in the habits of the others. The way they yap and bark pleadingly for a human's hand to accept and love them.
Perhaps it should be doing the same...?
