Shikaku fought a groan, knowing that any kind of sound escaping him would just hurt him. He was watching Kakashi - Hound - from his place against one of the trees around them. The mission had gone to Hell and back, and both of them were injured far worse than they should have been. Even so, Kakashi was holding back. Whether or not it was how injured he was, or his own emotions, the older man didn’t know, but he knew enough that both were dangerous.

Through years of denial, Tsuna finally accepted that home was indeed Konohagakure, but all this time since her permanent resurrection, she’s been avoiding the village like a plague since Tsunade was in charge; there’s no way Tsuna could possibly live in the village as another Senju took place as Kage. But this man wasn’t a Senju, so she figured it would be bearable in her decision to return... 

Ultimately, Tsuna didn’t actually have rights to do such a thing, hence her meeting with the Hatake now. Her actions in the war would consider her an enemy, she knew this, yet here she stood hoping for the best.

“... You realize I was being sarcastic with that, right? Besides....”

“I don’t want to hurt you, but I don’t think I can stop myself.”

“Kakashi,” Shikaku sighed, looking up towards the sky in slight annoyance. “You’re capable of a lot of restraint, and even if you weren’t, I’m able to hurt you just as much as you can hurt me. It’s a two way street, you little shit.”

“you made a mistake hugging me because i’m so touch starved i’m not letting go of you now.”

Shikaku snorted, before hugging Kakashi tighter. “Well good because I’m not letting go either. If you wanted a hug so damn bad you could have told me. It’s not like my son’s much of a hugger, you know.”

“you are the worst case of touch starvation i’ve ever seen.”

"Really?" Shikaku raised an eyebrow. "Is it that noticeable? I've only been gone for three fucking months to sit in a goddamn cave with nobody around because the mission intel was wrong.” Was he bitter? A little. Did he miss the little fucker? A lot.

It still didn’t stop him from whining, though. “Hug meeee!”

“If you keep this up, you’re going to regret it forever.”

“Kakashi,” Shikaku started, a small look of regret on his face. “I regret too much of my life already, but this? You? No, I won’t regret starting anything with you.” Despite his confidence in not regretting anything, he did step back away from the taller man. “However, if you want me to back off, I will. If not, you need to understand that my kid and I are a package deal, and I’d understand if that isn’t something you’re prepared to handle, even if he is practically an adult by now.”

This excursion had taken her away for two months, three days, four hours-- but, who was counting? Sakura’s tired feet dragged through the streets of Konoha, eyes fixed on the horizon. Or, they were until a familiar energy pricked at the edges of her vision.
