Where is the connection to Autumn with the name Mabon? To be honest, there is little to no connection unless you try hard and believe in yourself but Mr. Kelly had his reasons.
Oh my god so someone shared this article after the waterfall of memes that were trashing Mabon’s name. I was like What is it NOW??! (Every sabbat there is always drama about the actual sabbat lol) but after reading this and following up on some other articles I am so annoyed haha, the Lies!!
TBH the reason why I’ve ever used the wheel of the year names is cause it’s a point of reference amongst other witches and pagans. You just say it and they know exactly what you are referring to even though we all don’t know which deities they are named after or whatever lore follows them. But now I am thinking about being more strict about just saying the seasonal Equinox/Solstice/Crossquarter. I used to refer to the crossquarters as pinnacles (because I USED to refer to the crossquarters/pinnacles as the mid-season so like Midautumn/midspring/midsummer but probably some other irritating fucking pagan decided to name each BEGINNING of the season the MID seasons so people would get annoyed at me if I was referring to something like Lughnasadh as midsummer because midsummer means summer solstice even though it’s literally the 1st of the season and it’s so irritating lol).
The crossquarters are not really crossing into a new season for me. Even when I moved to England I find that it’s like.. still not the case.. It’s not really a transition it feels like the pinnacle of the season where as the equinox/solstices feel more transitional because it’s only the beginning of the next season.
Anyway here are some more articles related which are interesting to read:
