Just realizing that when Mac’hla’s name is said it sounds like the vulcan words  ‘mak’ and ‘la’ 

which translates roughly to ‘joy is present’

Mom Vibes

I can’t draw, but I can write. 

Mac’hla is an older sister to 7 small kids. She’s a total mom, not just to little children, but to the crew as well. I just want to make a short story of her being a mom to the crew.

Jim flipped Spock over his shoulder, but Spock landed on his feet in front of him.

Kirk through a punch and Spock donged it, rolling across the ground and coming back up onto his feet. He planted a firm kick to Jim’s chest, sending him to the floor in a heap. 

“Captain,” Mac’hla said, stepping away from her sparring mat, gesturing for Uhura to stop her moves. 

She knelt down to the ground and turned him over onto his back.

He gasped for air and held his chest while Spock stood waiting. 

“You two are far too rough with each other.” she said disapprovingly. 

“It is training, Maggie.” Kirk defended breathlessly. 

“How does injuring each other count as training? How can you defend yourself if you are injured?” she asked, pulling him up.

“You’ve been sparring too, Mac’hla.” Spock said, crossing his arms. 

“Yes, I have, but Lieutenant Uhura and I do not use nearly as much strength as we typically would. You two, however, are using every bit of strength you can muster, almost as if you are actually trying to hurt each other.” she countered. 

“Mac’hla-” Spock said, but she cut him off with a stern look. He closed his mouth and looked away. 

Jim chuckled behind her and she shot him the same look. 

The two men knew that look. A look that their Mothers had given them before. 

“Alright, alright, we’ll take it easy.” Jim finallly said sheepishly.

“No, you’ll go to sick bay and yourself patched up.”she said. 

Jim and Spock chose not to argue back. They half expected to have a wooden spoon or a sandal hurled at them, so they slowly backed out of the room. 

Uhura giggled, “You won’t reprimand me for sparring, will you?” 

“Only if you get too rough.” she smirked, and sent a kick flying Uhura’s way.

Explanation, I guess.

I just got a rather rude message from someone (I won’t say who because I’m not that kind of person) saying how much they dislike my character and how I’ve changed the Star Trek universe. 

So let me clear things up. 

Mac’hla is an original character. She is not canon. So all of these changes in the universe are developed to suit her. Maybe you could see it as an alternate universe if that is easier. 

Here are just a few of the things they said made no sense/were unrealistic. 

Mac’hla chose who she married - Mac’hla and T’Ve were set to be married before they were even born. It was believed that Mac’hla was going to be a boy. When she was born a female the marriage was called off. They grew up friends, but later they bonded and their parents decided to go through with their original plan and the two became betrothed once more. They chose, but at the same time, they didn’t. Furthermore, not all Vulcan marriages are arranged. Look at Sarek and Amanda.

Mac’hla became a captain at 24 - Yes, that is the youngest Captain in StarFleet history. Again, she is an original character. In canon, she is not. Kirk is. 

Spock was the first human-Vulcan child, not Mac’hla’s mother. - First of all, that is incorrect. (Enterprise spoiler ahead) The first ever vulcan-human mixed child was the child of T’Pol and Trip. Second of all, Mac’hla’s mother is almost the same age as Spock. She had her first child when she was 16. T’Gren (Mac’hla’s mother) is actually a few months younger than Spock. 

Mac’hla is emotional - Yes, how very observant. She is, but she counters it with logic. Much like Mr. Spock (and all vulcans for that matter) she has emotions. Because of her human ancestry, she has less control over them so she exhibits more emotional behavior. 

People with trauma don’t act like that - Have you lost your damn mind? First of all, you made sure to mention that you do not have trauma. I do. I can tell you that trauma does not always define a person. She lives her life with the memory of the event, but she does not let it control her as it would be both damaging and illogical. Don’t make assumptions of other peoples behavior, especially if you don’t understand what they have been through. 

Mac’hla is ‘fat’ - Again, very observant, aren’t you? Who is to say that a Vulcan could not be plus size? In Enterprise, we see a Vulcan man who is not as thin and fit as some others. Mac’hla has a predisposition to be bigger, and because of her eating habits, she maintains that larger figure. She is muscular as well, and she has the same physical capabilities as other Vulcans and humans.

Spock is too emotional with her - Spock and Mac’hla have a relationship like that of a father and daughter.  Again, she is not a canon character which would make her relationship with Spock non-canonical as well. 

Vulcans can’t be Jewish - Says who? I never said Mac’hla was a practicing Jew, I said she had semetic ancestry. She believes that all higher beings are simply different manifestations of the same beings/being. She sees no logic in disproving other religions, and while she believes in the Vulcan gods, she believes that Yhwh is simply another manifestation of divine power, and he is just as real as any other deity/deities. 

Listen, you have every right not to like my character. But you need to remember that she is not canon. Please do not make assumptions about my character if you have not created her.
