Ingredients: 8 oz macaroni pasta. 2 cups broccoli florets. 2 tablespoons butter. 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour. 2 cups milk. 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese. Salt and pepper to taste. 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. 1/4 teaspoon onion powder. 1/4 cup breadcrumbs optional. 1 tablespoon chopped parsley optional.
Instructions: Cook macaroni pasta according to package instructions. In the last 2 minutes of cooking, add broccoli florets to the boiling water. Drain and set aside. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk until smooth, cooking for about 1 minute. Gradually pour in milk, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste. Add cooked macaroni and broccoli to the cheese sauce, stirring until well combined. If desired, transfer the mixture to a baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top, and broil until golden brown. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
