Red Hook Winery's Black and Blue 2008
From the Macari vineyard, North Fork of Long Island. Made under the direction of the mighty Robert Foley. 50% CF and 50% Merlot. Long Island must be growing some big Cab Franc's because the Merlot was hidden but it did soften the tanin's a bit. Had a hint of eucalyptus and licorice. I think it can cellar for at least 10 years. Served it with a seafood gumbo, whose richness balanced out Cab Franc, too. A must have for any Robert Foley-phile.
And, then there's the poodles.
