hello! I have FINALLY drawn something i like again! from left to right we have: Kate, Lady Macbeth and Desdemona. Here’s why:

so basically, in Austria, you have to write a full length dissertation to get your a-level equivalent. luckily, i’m allowed to do it in English, and i’m allowed to pick whatever topic i want, provided there’s enough literature to cite. so i chose to write about the development of how Shakespeare’s female characters have been portrayed and interpreted on stage in the past 400 years, using these three ladies as my main examples.

since i’m still in my before-last year, i’m still in the research phase, and don’t have to start working on it properly for a while. right now it’s about finding books, making an exact plan and just preparing in general.

so i’m starting by reading the plays! since Much Ado is my favourite play, and i LOVE beatrice, it cost me a lot not to use her as one of my examples, but i really wanted to use this opportunity to get to know some other plays as well as i know much ado. currently I’m still on Othello and i am absolutely loving it, which i didn’t necessarily expect because i’ve always liked the comedies more than the tragedies. but all my research into desdemona has got me so invested in her character and i’m absolutely loving it. can’t wait to get deeper into the other two too!
