If Soundwave was an ally to the autobots, he would like humans.

(Obivosuly not meant to be taken as canon, this is entirely my opinion)

Notably, the introverted ones. I feel like he would love the introverted humans the most since introverts are typically the most observant and keep to themselves most of the time. Just like how Soundwave is.

Hello Soundwave fans, I have come with an idea:

Investigative Journalist Soundwave

Think about it— a lot of misinformation and propaganda had to have been spread by the Senate and other government agencies of Cybertron

For revolutionaries and dissent groups like the Decepticons, the gathering and dispersal of accurate information is vital, so investigative journalists would be really important.

And to get some info? Especially on a world like Cybertron? You'd literally have to have spy-level skills in information gathering.

Therefore— Soundwave would make for an AMAZING Investigative journalist pre-war.

(I hope this makes sense and you all see the vision here. I genuinely think this take on a pre-war Soundwave would be absolutely AWESOME to see)
