💙💜 @macdowell1907 The Fellowship application period for 2023 fall/winter residencies at MacDowell is now open! 💙💜➡️ https://linktr.ee/MacDowell1907 ⬅️ There are no residency fees, and MacDowell provides need-based grants for travel to and from the residency. To defray expenses that accrue during an artist’s stay, stipends are available to cover costs such as rent, utilities, childcare, and lost income from taking time off from employment. MacDowell encourages artists to apply in any stage of their career, and from all backgrounds and countries, in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual arts. Any applicant whose proposed project does not fall clearly within one of these artistic disciplines should contact the admissions department for guidance at [email protected]. The deadline to apply is February 10, 2023. Fall/winter residencies will take place between September 1, 2023 and February 29, 2024. Artists of all ages and in all stages of their artistic practice may apply for residency fellowships across the seven disciplines listed below, but if you don’t see your specific discipline or sub-discipline represented, do not think you are excluded. In all our operations, we aim to be inclusive, not exclusive. Find the link in our bio to learn more and please contact us with any questions you might have about applying for a MacDowell Fellowship. - Architecture: This discipline encompasses structural and landscape architecture, and includes design or writing projects. 🏢 - Film/Video Arts: Fellowships extend to animators, documentary makers, experimental filmmakers, feature filmmakers, and screenwriters. 🎥 - Interdisciplinary Arts: This discipline encompasses performance art, sound art, movement, choreography, and new media installation. 👯‍♂️ - Literature: Writers of novels, short stories, graphic writing, journalism, essays, biographies, creative nonfiction, memoir, poetry, and translations into English are accepted. 🖋️ - Music Composition: All types of composition in all musical styles are considered at MacDowell from hip-hop to classical and from post-modern jazz to electronica. 🎵 - Theatre: The theatre arts include playwrights, librettists, devised theatre artists, performance artists, composers of musical theatre, as well as directors generating original material. 🎭 - Visual Arts: In this wide-ranging discipline, makers of three-dimensional and two-dimensional art are considered from photographers and printmakers to sculptors and creators of large-scale installation as well as everything in between. 🎨 Pictured: Mount Monadnock as viewed from the MacDowell Amphitheater in the late autumn of 2021.
