This picture was taken when Flynn was rushing around macing people with cleaning products. Often when in a haze of anger, Flynn will attack people's eyes.
NYPD Excessive force by macing Protestors during Occupy Wall Street
WE Watches the WATCHMEN!
I was asked to comment on the public naming of the officer involved in the macing of protestors at Occupy Wall Street:
"What thinkest thou?" I was asked...
I THINKEST JUSTICE. I'd like to know what kind of instruction these peace officers are getting before they hit the streets. Are they being told to do this kind of action? To pen and mace indiscriminately? Who's in charge of operational procedures when the rights of others are so very important? That's what I want to see online next. Internal Affairs should be camped out with the protesters at this point.
When I see this kind of abuse, this casual brutality, this simple, abject ghoulishness, I find my own mind wandering towards the words "civilized" and "justice." What does it mean when police require policing; when we must ask "who watches the watchmen"; when society is chaos and most folk are dying of starvation while 1% live soaking in wealth? I think the chant "The whole world is watching." I swell with "unutterable loathing" as brother Fredrick Douglas called it. I can deal with my own suffering rather well, but the suffering of others I can not abide well at all. I feel despair amongst this primate clique, groping in the dark towards something we might one day call civilization. I think the Twenty First Century is on a tightrope, paradoxically tided of the two sentimental cords of "All is One" and "Do not fuck with Us." I think of brother Zappa almost half a century ago singing, "I will love the police as they kick the shit out of me." I think of brother Krishnamurti's exclamation, "Thought is responsible for all of this!" That sentiment will no doubt be echoing as the species awakens to its failed experiments. And when I see beastliness like Mr. Bologna, and I use Mr. because he will no doubt soon be returning to the civilian class, SHAMING the NYPD and all peace officers as he did, and knowing that as we speak folk far more brazen and braver than a man of words such as I are combing through the net, publishing every bit of data on this man--I thinkest justice. For he has forfeited trust. He is now at the mercy of his brothers and sisters and whether he knew it or not, he always was, always has been, always will be. “Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.”
This kind of response will continue. As long as abuse continues, the abusers will be brought out into the light. They will no longer be able to hide in the isolationist shadows of status, wealth, positions, passwords, or power--be they DPW or attorney general. That show is over. The species has become a hive of sleepless eyes and ears. Peeper's peeps peeping peeper's peeps peeping peerps peeing peeps. There is no where left for anyone to hide. Everything is naked now. And awake and sharpened. The earth, a lonely spaceship nigh depleted of its natural resources and toxified by the machines of boundless greed and infinite growth paradigms--neither the species nor the ecosystem from whence it came can support the abuse. We are flirting with the threshold of the abyss. And at this moment of extremis we are consciously or unconsciously now looking for those that can be trusted in society with the roles of power. Those that abuse that power, again from crossing guard to astronaut, will be known to all. Corruption is becoming extinct thanks to such brazen retaliation. But now even the shopkeeper who jips you out of 25 cents is up for public humiliation... If this is the kind of thing the species requires to evolve into a civil, real, and just community--that we must all police each other and ourselves whilst loving each other and ourselves; the end of shadows, the end of privacy--if we must basically check ourselves, scare ourselves into it; police the police policing the police, then that is what it required. I do not necessarily believe that this is true, but for now perhaps it is the case. I think we could grow up from an origin of cosmically-oriented, agapist, organic, authentic, holistic, evolutionary love (for we are the history of the universe compacted into thumb-whingeing upright apes--no disconnect from the big bang or from anything hence); but for now no bad deed will go unblogged. Now everything matters. What you think, what you write, and what you do has more far-reaching consequences; for the Internet has extended the zone of cause and effect into a surrogate reality of instantaneous, omniscient , and omnipotent activity. The Internet is our liquid mirror river. Its image constantly changes alongside our society, alongside us, reflecting everything it is capable of reflecting, as it wanders with us into an unknown, unknowable future. We're now right in our own faces with horrendous speed and nauseating detail. We must know our worst offenders, our worst offenses, our ugliest sides, our most inhumane moments in history or we will surely suffer the folly of chosen ignorance. This is the telewakening. At the birth of the a new, digitally-interconnected species awareness we are all at the mercy of each other. Online everybody knows everybody. On the Internet everyone's number is up. This should make us all, both online and in meat space, far more mindful human beings; for now the hammer swings far and wide and often; wielded by all the all.

The inequality of this situation is unarmed peaceful protester vs trained and armed over zealous police officer. The police are trained to respond to violent threats, they are suppose to exercise common sense as well. This officer should be evaluated because of his use of protocol. He is a bastard.
