oh man oh man.

my main thought is that i need to winner's room them so bad.

them meeting up in a series of winner's rooms that get increasingly more agitated when they're both fresh and hot from their increasingly chippy games. and then as they settle down a bit and their adrenaline slows down the room turns from "i need to hurt you i need to annoy you fuck you fuck you fuck you i hate you personally" to "i recognize myself in you and i dont want to but i understand you and you understand me and we have a connection even through all the loathing."

like mack is better at hockey than logan. that's just a (unfortunate for me bc im a mammoth fan) fact. but they both understand what it means to have the weight of a team on your shoulders - a team that's never won a cup, a team that's hungry, a team who expects you personally to drag them over the finish line.

and there's a connection there where like yes they can dislike each other, yes they even get into messy scuffles that will one day turn into a messy fight, yes they can feel more competitive against the other than against anyone else BUT there is still an understanding at their base levels about who the other one is. and that connection is what's fascinating to me.
