A little shark poster I painted for myself!
To be totally honest I kinda stole the poses & designs for the shars from Google, but it was only suposed to be a watercolor exercise at first! I didn't expect it to come out this well at all!
And who would have guessed what my 6 favourite types of shark are ...xD
Did you know that when compared roughly the Whaleshark is actually the least dangerouse of all the kinds shown. EVen though they are the biggest species of shark they only eat Krill, Plankton and smaller fish. That is why there are many photos of divers getting pretty close!
But the others also aren't as dangerouse as one would think! Most sharks never bite humans. And if they do, they often only do it out of curiosity or by mistake. In the case of surfers the shape of them can easily be mistaken for a seal from below!
To be extra safe around sharks it is often recomended to stay vertical and don't try to flee to not trigger the sharks hunting instinct and because a vertical possition can seem more unknown or frightening.
Last fact for today I promise: Sharks are animals who actually have a 6th sense! They have Ampullae Lorenzin (had to look that name up as well) on their noses. Those are the small pores you often see! And with those they can sense weak electric fields, changes in their enviornment and even earths magnetic field, which they navigate by similar to many birds. That is also why tests show that sharks avoid magnets in the water with them even when food is placed on them!
