Two questions is this anything to do with hobbits and what did managing this entail?

Sadly nothing to do with Hobbits, and I was responsible for ensuring it was maintained and protected in perpetuity. It was one of about fifty properties I managed at the same time when I was responsible for a whole region of the country.
