Macro Kit Portrait - Canon MP-E 65mm by Chris Bainbridge Via Flickr: Hoping to go away soon to somewhere a bit warmer with some bugs, so assembled the macro kit for testing - only to realise there is no way I can cart all this on a plane via carry on. Might have a rethink! Have spent some years refining this equipment to what I think is about as good as it can get for ultra high magnification focus stacking work. For those that are interested the items are: Canon EOS 7D Mark II - crop factor and improved high ISO performance. Canon MP-E 65mm - the ultimate macro lens with up to 5x magnification (most "normal" macro lenses being 1x) fitted with Kirk LP41 lens plate. Canon MR14-EX - ring flash. Canon RS-80N3 remote release - removes vibration from pressing shutter. Zacuto Z-finder Pro - Magnifies live view display, especially useful in bright conditions and allows very fine focus control. Novoflex Cartel Cross Q - 2 way high precision focus rail. Uniloc major 1700 tripod + 30 head - highly adjustable with fully waterproof legs, ideal for dragonflies emerging etc. Wimberley Plamp (with extension) for holding a stem still in front of the lens. Also have a number of separate articulated arms to hold coloured backgrounds or Manfrotto Mini 24 LED adjustable lights - where a more natural illumination is possible. An example of the result below in comments. Green card background was used in this case.
