Cicadas - Cicadoidea
(PART 1) / (PART 2) / (PART 3) / (PART 4) / (PART 5) / (PART 6) / (PART 7) / (PART 8)
I am currently freaking out about the infraorder Cicadomorpha. So here is another series of cool bugs. First it was a series on treehoppers, then on leafhoppers, now on cicadas. All members of the infraorder Cicadomorpha. I mean just talk about genetics, they are all gorgeous ! !
These ones might be some of the most gorgeous ones yet with their patterns and colours ! ! I especially love the black and scarlet cicada ! For some reason it specifically reminds me of the Queen of Hearts and her royal house in the Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland. Eitherway, that was my usual yapping, enjoy the cicadas ! !
Also, the information on the distribution of these species, I sourced from iNaturalist.
Black and Scarlet Cicada - Huechys sanguinea (China, Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines)
Cherrynose - Macrotristria angularis (Australia)
Auritibicen rotundus (China)
Sulphogaeana sulphurea (India, Nepal, Bhutan, China)
Stagira furculata (South Africa)
