More importantly, I’m glad that unlike when people first started really hating on Hetalia a few years back we can actually visibly band together to help each other this time. Watch out for the gore they’ve posted in the tags, people. Despite my misgivings in the fandom over the years, I’ve seen it develop into. Well. A really mature fandom that can still laugh at their non-PC canon and enjoy it without going, “LOL MASS RAPE IS FUNNY BECAUSE VITAL REGIONS HEEHEEHEE.”

I do believe Himaruya dealt with the subject matters as well as he could, even where his own country’s war crimes are involved. Also, he lives in New York City. So. As a New Yorker I can actually appreciate his non-PC humor.
This is coming from a Chinese-American. Friendly reminder that my family was in Manchuria and Beijing when the Japanese invaded. Please don’t speak for me when whining about Japanese imperialism making Hetalia fans bad people. You know, when you actually bother to remember that alongside the Holocaust, the Holodomor and Nanjing Massacre also occurred during the war. Try to take your edited and censored history class textbooks with a bit of salt before generically preaching for the sake of preaching, kiddies.
