𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐘 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐒 knocked on her door to tell her that it’s time to leave now? far too many times to count. in fact, astoria would be certain that the footsteps approaching her room are that of the servants coming to remind her that it’s time to leave again... if not for how heavy they sound. no, astoria has grown used to those footsteps by now, has found comfort in hearing them many a time, and she knows them to be maddox’s own. now would certainly be a time for her to find comfort in his presence if astoria could keep her levels of irritation in check, but margie—her cat—has hidden herself under the bed amidst all the commotion, and astoria will be damned if she leaves without her.
now, prim and proper in her fancy dress with laces so tight that she can hardly breathe, astoria is forced to kneel on the floor and try to coax the cat out with nothing but her bare hands. she’d demanded perhaps rather rudely that a servant bring her whatever raw meat she could find in the hope of coaxing the fluffy monster out and into the bag that astoria has prepared for her, but all astoria has managed to do is get the cat to hiss at her. “ oh, come out already, ” astoria grumbles, only just aware when the hinges of her door creak open. rising up, the princess narrowly avoids hitting her head on her bedframe as her gaze meets maddox’s own. her dark hues widen as she exclaims, “ shut the door, maddox! quick, before she escapes! ”
