Dear Folks,
Seven o’clock and it’s been dark for a couple hours already – Boy these nites can be long!
Today we had a mad house at the office – officers from the Jap 42nd Division to turn over more equipment, assistant adjutant under MacArthur, and then the American officers from Division to accept a bunch of that equipment plus the assorted requests for other material. Boy we had more American and Jap Brass today than I’ve seen in a heck of a long time.

Today I was over half thru with my map and the Engineers came up for our overlays to make a composite. There me with some thirty odd hours on the joking thing and I junked it. Actually it isn’t bad tho – I really appreciate the work they’re doing. It’s going to be a lot more accurate than mine, a lot better, and it means no more work as far as that’s concerned.
Tomorrow I asked for a pass, and the Captain ok’d it – So I’ll look over the old city and see how the Japs live. I’ve really gotten full and complete reports on the city up to now, and most of

the guys weren’t too well pleased. Ah, but then a lot of guys need a lot more to amuse them than I do.
It’s 8:00 or rather 8:15 – this is a marvelous game of bull stinging, and I can’t concentrate on either the letter or the conversation, and I’ve got to write the kids tonite too! (Tho I don’t have the slightest idea what the heck I’m going to write about.)
I’m going to try to make a touch on the Captain. We’ve got a bunch of bicycles in one of the warehouses, and I’m going to see if I can get one to go to work on. I’m about a mile from work, and while I get

a ride every day, I sort of still want a bicycle. He should give me one too – tho I’m not positive and I won’t know until Thursday.
The discussion is on horses and cattle now – and while it’s not too interesting it’s plenty loud which is just as disconcerting.
We haven’t gotten any mail for a while, that storm on Okinawa sort of messed up the mail systems. Tho we should get mail by Wed. That’s tomorrow – and until tomorrow then.
Love, Bud
