jungwon keeps telling himself he's fine, that he made the right choice, that he can breathe better now. but every time he sees your name on his screen, something inside him aches like a bruise he keeps pressing. he never meant to stalk your account. he really didn't. it just happened. one moment he was absentmindedly scrolling, the next he found himself staring at your smile like he used to, except now he wasn't allowed to call it beautiful. the lyrics felt like a slap. but seeing you on a shopping spree somehow hurt more. like you were replacing pieces of him with new things you didn't have to think about. he hates that he misses you more in the moments you looked happy without him. he hates that he doesn’t get to be part of that happiness anymore.
he finally throws his phone aside like it burned him, drags a hand over his face, and whispers, “i need to get out of here,” because the apartment suddenly feels too small, too quiet, too full of memories he tried shoving into corners. the same apartment you and him used to share. so he walks. no destination, just movement. he texts the guys because he knows if he’s alone any longer he’ll crumble, and the minute he sits down with them, he tries to smile like nothing’s wrong. but sunoo sees right through him, jay and sunghoon keeps shooting these soft worried glances, jake is quieter than usual, and ni-ki just bumps his shoulder like, “we’re here, okay?”
jungwon doesn’t say much. he just listens to them talk, laugh, complain about stupid things. and somehow, in that noise, he feels his heart loosen the tiniest bit. like maybe he can exist without you. like maybe the world won’t end if you stopped loving him. but every once in a while, when the conversation slows, he finds himself slipping, wondering what you're up to, if you bought something you've always wanted, if you're really as okay as you presented yourself to be. he knows he shouldn’t. he can’t. he should’ve felt relieved. but he didn’t. he told himself this is what he wanted—you're finally free of his mess, his flaws, his not-for-good, not-enough, sorry excuse of a heart. but now that you're gone? it just feels like he pushed away the only thing he ever did right.
and he hates himself for it.

“yah, jungwon! are you even listening?” sunghoon’s voice cut through the room, sharper than he meant it to be.
“what are you doing?”
jungwon flinched, like he’d been caught somewhere he wasn’t supposed to be. he blinked once, twice, and finally looked up. that’s when they saw it. the redness around his eyes, the way it glossed, like he’d been holding something back for far too long. the room went quiet.
jay was the first to move. he crossed the room and sat down beside him, close enough that jungwon could feel the warmth of another person, close enough that he didn’t feel so alone. jay’s voice softened immediately. “hey… are you okay?” he hesitated, then added gently, “what happened?”
jungwon’s hands were clenched in his lap, knuckles white. he stared at the floor like the answer might be written there. his breath hitched once. then again. and when he finally spoke, his voice cracked so badly it barely sounded like him.
“s-she blocked me,” he sobbed.
the words shattered the quiet. his shoulders shook as everything he’d been holding in finally spilled over, the sound raw and ugly and honest. sunoo’s smile fell instantly. jake swallowed hard. ni-ki shifted uncomfortably, suddenly unsure where to look. heeseung just stayed quiet, observing the younger.
jay didn’t say anything else. he just stayed there, steady and solid, a hand coming up to rest on jungwon’s back as the realization settled in. “i didn’t mean it,” jungwon choked out, the words tumbling over each other like he was afraid they’d disappear if he didn’t say them fast enough. his hands curled into the fabric of his sleeves, fingers trembling.
“i swear i didn’t mean it. i just… i thought i was doing the right thing. i thought letting her go would hurt less than watching us fall apart.” his voice cracked, breaking completely as he sucked in a shaky breath.
he shook his head, eyes glossy, unfocused, like he was replaying every moment he wished he could undo. “i didn’t think she’d really leave like this. i didn’t think she’d shut me out,” he whispered, guilt dripping from every word. “i just want her back. i want to fix it. i want to do it right this time. i’ll listen, i’ll stay, i’ll do whatever, i just want one more chance.”
his shoulders slumped as the weight of it all crashed down on him, exhaustion etched into his face. “i don’t need things to be easy,” he added quietly. “i just need her. even if it’s hard. even if it hurts.”
