Not knowing where to go, Junko would continue doing nothing to contribute at home for a few years, spending most of her time on the streets and hanging out with who she could, until hired at a local café for her pretty face. That's where she met with Yasuo Asahina, back then simply a client of the café, but that would eventually fall for Junko, being patient, understanding or even getting to find Junko's stronger side attractive.

I feel Mafumom met Mafudad when he was still a young and inexperienced business guy, okay-

Actually, I'm going to count this 4koma as a major Mafudad win.

Basically what it's talking about here is that Mafudad got his daughter a new laptop.

This laptop, however, is protected in more ways than the previous one:, protective case, keyboard cover and a screen protector. Probably because of what happened to Mafuyu's phone (glu glu glu🫧)

It's so impressive that even Kanade mentions she thinks Mafudad is too protective.

So unless it's some kind of scheme of manipulation, which I doubt, this man just went out of his way to secure his daughter's happiness. Something no other adult in Mafuyu's life has done previously.

I'm not saying he should be forgiven but. Maybe he's not that bad

Oh this reminds me I also thought about how mzen would deal with mafudad’s weekly visits in knmf’s bodies. I think they’ll either try to fake it til they make it or make some dumb excuse like ‘Mafuyu is sick right now and she wants to be left alone 🥺🥺’

Ohhh i just finished reading mafu6 and there will be spoilers here so be alarmed

The story made me feel like i was stabbed in the heart and they twist it to make it more painful

When things finally started to be better and Mafuyu's smile is starting to become real even at school (judging by emu's reaction)

they just nope and gave us false hope

it's honestly expected and i expected it to not end in a happy ending (like hello the instrumentals is already concerning enough) and its really painful to watch

I really wish the best for the Asahina Family

You could see that Mafumom was trying her best to not hurt Mafuyu and consider her feelings more and is trying her best to support Mafuyu in any way she can but Everytime she thinks she says something wrong she apologize quickly and tries to steer of the conversation, you can see it affect her and she even went to council(i forgot the word for it) to learn how to be a better parent and for Mafuyu..

Mafuyu feels like she's burdening her mother and making her suffer again and she doesn't want her mother to feel hurt because of her and so she went and went back to her old habits and hides her feelings again to not burden and hurt her mother more but in turn it ended up hurting them both in the process

They both experience trauma but they are trying to fix it but sometimes they ended up making some bad decisions so it ended up going back to square 1

Honestly Mafudad is definitely a great dad, He noticed immediately that Mafuyu was hiding her feelings again when talking about the topic and along with Kanade helps Mafuyu say what she feels which then causes Mafumom to realize what shes doing is hurting Mafuyu again which makes her feel guilty

So Mafuyu comes back to Kanade's house again to settle down and calm down a bit..

I really wish the best for them, I hope they could communicate better, they are in a cycle of hurt and im sure with the help of mafudad and the rest of niggo then they could finally heal and move forward... and afterwards its Kanade's turn to suffer whahahaha/j

reeling in the lights is (to me) one of the more interesting mafuyu events. for one you really get an idea of who her father was and somehow usually end up defending the guy who was absent for so much of his child's life he doesn't remember if she doesn't like a certain type of cake. to be fair mafuyu hadn't told either of her parents about that but still.

like, mafudad is neglectful. he sort of just... let mafumom take care of mafuyu and didn't seem to take too much of an active role in, you know, raising his kid until she ran away from home at which point the problem was too big for anyone to solve without professional help. he knew mafuyu was a good student, knew her 'dream' was to be a doctor, but he didn't know her at all. but at the same time, he didn't manipulate her into becoming the perfect child and isn't the reason why mafuyu currently has so many issues. though most of mafuyu's memories of him are of him being absent, which is an awful sign.

he does genuinely want to keep his family together, though. he was just so busy with work that he couldn't focus on it, and though there's definitely something going on there (why would you not put in any effort to ensure everyone was okay when you had a little time to?), the motivation and intentions is there.

mafudad is a more complex character than we give him credit for i think. it took way too long for him to realize he needed to act to ensure everyone was actually okay, and when he did it was too late, but he seems extremely remorseful over it and is trying to find a solution. (and, of course, try to get to know his kid, which must be a hell of a thing to admit you need to do.)

... and here's where i admit that i wanted to write about this because of the flashback sequence, where mafudad is shown to do actual parenting. it's a thunderstorm. mafuyu's trying to be a "good child" by not going to her parents for help despite how scared she is. (while i do sort of understand not wanting your kid to ask if they can stay with you as a parent, the fact that mafuyu felt that she shouldn't go tell someone she couldn't sleep at the age of like 5 or 6 is insane. mafumom needs to answer for this.) her father has presumably been asked to check up on her, as he's probably done at least once before, but this time she's not asleep in bed, she's awake and visibly distressed.

so he just goes and sits with her, reassures her, holds her hand until she falls asleep, and tells her he'll say she slept on her own because he understands she doesn't want to make her mother disappointed in her. (again. she is saying these things at like 6 AT THE OLDEST. or current mafuyu just has a big memory repression issue but i'm not getting into that.) mafudad does, for once, the absolute right thing and shows up in his child's life. and the scene genuinely makes me happy cry, both because i am a little jealous and it gives me hope for mafuyu.

but then, time goes on. and this sort of thing doesn't happen again.

and mafuyu's father ends up not knowing if his child is even scared of thunder anymore because he is too focused on his work and she is unable to be honest with anyone for fear of being a disappointment.

the cycle repeats until so much stress is placed upon it that it is forced to break.
