so barodius makes two artificial lifeforms, anubias and sellon, one gundalian and one neathian. anubias looks like your typical gundalian but sellon is always noted to be a "corrupted" version of what a neathian would look like. she can't disguise herself as well as a typical neathian can and between her and anubias, she's much more dedicated to mag mel/barodius than anubias is.
if you start melting your brain like i did thinking of the implications of barodius creating sellon, a neathian, the way he did, it becomes a lot more sinister. not even a year before he was invading neathia and was the main perpetrator of genocide against neathians. doing so requires a level of dehumanization - fascists have to dehumanize the people they're invading and killing in order to justify to themselves that what they're doing is correct (am i implying that realistically, gundalians would be racist as hell towards neathians? yes i am). this would also birth stereotypes; irl this translates to the angry black person, the mammy, the subservient asian woman, the terrorist west asian, the hyper-sexualized latine, and so on.
following this, in bakugan, the gundalians' ideal of neathians - a race they dehumanized - would be reflected on sellon. to barodius, the ideal neathian is subservient to him, a gundalian, and thus willing to follow every command a gundalian has, never questioning. she can be cruel and ruthless, but never to him. the fact that barodius makes his most loyal servant a neathian woman, instead of gundalian, can also hint at gundalian fetishization of the neathian woman. even worse, barodius has a hand in distorting her physical features so she doesn't look like the typical neathian; he literally creates his ideal neathian, but knowing his history, it's almost assuredly born out of dehumanization, fetishization, and the sentiment of seeing neathians as "exotic".
