you'd think that given how he looks 😭😭😭 i just assume its muscle built over the years of being the eldest son who helps a lot around the house and probably has siblings hanging off of him begging to be carried.

it seems like his dad is a carpenter so maybe he's been helping out with that too? based off what i've seen i just dont think baron actively worked out to get that buff lol

After many years of on and off confusion and uncertainty, Runo and Dan have broken up. Runo is torn in two, feeling as if being with Dan is her sacred destiny, Lars Lion told her so, right? Without realizing she loves him the world would have collapsed into darkness. What Runo doesn’t know is that love comes in many shapes and forms, including platonic love.

Alice stayed isolated with her grandfather deep in Moscow until his very last breath. On his deathbed he pleaded to Alice to continue his legacy, and care for the laboratory after his passing. Alice cried— knowing she could not fulfill this promise. She had been dealing with her own set of ailments. She was passing out again and experiencing gaps in memory, amnesia. It scared her to no end. She attempted to reach out to her extended family (Aunt & Uncle) but they refused homing her. She was well past the age limit in their minds. They always were kinda uncaring to her.

Feeling completely emotionally devoid and alone, Alice decides to reach out to her long time long distance friend Runo to tell her everything. The Misaki’s happily allow her to stay. Runo assures Alice that she will always hold the key to Doctor Michaels laboratory, and that she had to do what was in her best interest. Not his.

But what was best for Alice? All she knew was that she was isolated her whole life, sheltered. Her only exposure to a fulfilling life was when she was with the Brawlers… When she lived with Runo, when she shared a room with her. When she was with Runo.

It is then when Alice decided to finally confess the feelings she’s been bottling up for years. Alice pushed her feelings for Runo away for many years knowing Runo was deeply infatuated with Dan. She never wanted to come between them, she always wanted to remain complacent. Much to Alice’s shock, Runo begins sobbing out of love and happily accepts her feelings.

The two eventually become the owners of the Misaki family cafe after Runo’s parents retire.

Okay now that all my rambling is complete— My take is that an Adult Runo would most likely end up having a body type similar to her mom and dad. Fat Runo my beloved!!!! I think Bakugan could benefit from some more diversity, wouldn’t kill them. I think that fat Runo probably will upset some people but c’mon. Runo’s mom seemed to gain weight after Runo was born / as she was growing up. So I think biologically speaking Runo would follow a similar path.

Oh and my adult Alice is genderqueer / nonbinary. Uses she/they/he pronouns and usually wears a binder, actually I’ve considered Alice top surgery too but I dunno :) just ideas…

Do you think it's possible that Runo was given the 'Tomboy' label to show girls that they can be into Bakugan? This was back before they gave up and had only one girl on team for each season.

it is possible that the dub tried to label runo a tomboy as a way of giving her a distinctive personality (like how julie is super upbeat and peppy and alice is more soft spoken and shy) but in the context of the bakugan game, it makes no sense to paint runo as someone who's into 'boyish things' to justify her interest when the show already has plenty of girls that are interested in bakugan and who don't have to compromise their femininity to play it. looking at season one alone, julie, alice, jenny and jewls, chan lee (and even nene) are proof that girls can be feminine and still kick ass at the game. there's no need to push the agenda that you have to be a boyish girl to like bakugan.

i know that the show was made with a male demographic in mind and that's only to be expected but i never got the sense in-universe that bakugan was a game for boys so these comments about how girls don't know anything about battling or marucho's line about how the jj dolls probably aren't the best battlers, just the best female battlers (thanks dub) annoy me sooo badly. i guess it's just the casual misogyny of the 2000s era leaking into the script but still, i could very much do without it.

makes it all the sweeter that the best bakugan player in the world turned out not to be a boy but a girl ❤️

1 funny thing in a "Runo and Julie join Marucho in New Vestroia" AU is Baron fanboying Runo and her reaction to that.

she deserves it fr. . .and as a fellow haos brawler i feel like it would make sense for baron to look up to runo the most, too? let someone gush about how great she is for once!!!

there's also that whole thing with him feeling guilty over the loss of tigress that was never brought up once while they were on earth together and its such a shame that baron and runo never had a moment about that

Hi! I don’t know if you’re interested in long fics or not, but have you ever read Alice in New Vestroia by ariaace613? It’s in my opinion the best written fic in the Bakugan fandom. Two chapters in and it already aknowledges that Masquerade’s brawling skills came from Alice, and then goes an extra mile to state that the lack of aggression from the silent core makes her an even BETTER brawler than him and she’s treated like the powerhouse she deserves. All the brawlers and bakugan get the respect they deserve and make far less supod mistakes than in the og show. The only downside is that the fight scenes can really be a drag most of the time since they closely follow the show’s mechanics, but the characterization sprinkled in there is solid.

Gus struggling to reconcile the symbol he has devoted himself to (Spectra) and the man (Keith)

Gus trying to assimilate back into normal life. He saw himself as a revolutionary, and likely assumed he may well face death to put Spectra on the throne. And now he's... Living a normal-ish life? Yes he's still working on interplanetary spanning issues with the Brawlers, but like? He's not dead, and while still serving at Spectra's side— well, he isn't.

He stands next to Keith. Mira's brother. Who dotes on her, and laughs without the sharp edge of secrecy and ideological fervor. Keith who laughs openly. Keith who's blue eyes are the same bright blue, but not piercing. Not having to be so constantly vigilant. Keith's eyes are still beautiful to Gus, but softer.

And, truthfully, maybe not what he fell in love with.

Spectra was a mask. He understood that. But it he still can't help but feel like the rug has been pulled out from beneath him, the air stolen from him. Keith moves the same, but not quite. Sounds the same, but not quite.

Gus should be glad they survived. They succeeded, for all intents and purposes. But this isn't what he fought for. Gus thought if he survived that he would serve a new ruler of Vestal. Be constantly on the watch for those who would depose Spectra.

And it's not like Spectra is gone. He's still very much there, and how much of Spectra is/was Keith is staggering at times. His intensity, his power, his presence. They're all still there. But just. Slightly different.

It's a little maddening. It feels like he's insane or stupid or both. And he still cannot fathom leaving Spectra— Keith's side.

His name doesn't taste right on Gus' tongue. "Spectra" was a prayer, a litany of devotion to an idea he knew was an idea more than a concrete person. Keith is, well. A name. A person's name. Spectra's name.

It feels like blasphemy. It feels like letting go. It feels like stepping away from a ledge he'd willing led himself to, at the behest of the ideal that pushed him there in the first place.

It doesn't feel like a betrayal, but it does feel... Almost like disappointment. And that's ridiculous. Gus knew there was a man beneath that mask. Wanted so badly to know that man. And yet, unmasked, he still finds himself surprised to find Keith is merely a man.
