Territorial Dispute
The phenomenon in which two or more powers attempt to gain the control of a territory through arguments, or conflict. Close to an Opportunistic Takeover; which is usually caused by a weakening factor.
Or, what if Melanie hit Jon a little bit higher than his shoulder?
TMA Fandom, what is your opinion on the hypothetical idea of Jonah's entire plan failing all because Martin forgot to put Jon's rib back and conveniently forgot about it until Peter attempted to banish him to the Lonely? Send Tumblr post
(Edit: this has a fic now, as of 2026, June 14; 'A Moment of Convience' by Mapleine_Mint_Extract on Ao3,)
There is no world where Tim becomes Archivist without some serious, but hilarious, shenanigans.
Such as the one that had been rotating in my head, which is, Jonathan and Tim accidentally swap bodies due to Research Era shenanigans - and Jonah, Elias, who thinks he's planning ahead of this, gives Tim's body the promotion thinking that when it resolves itself it will follow Jon's identity back to his body.
It doesn't. But it was a good thought.
Or, the opposite happens as Elias gives Tim (In Jon's body) the promotion and it follows Tim back to his og body.
Elias just can't win in this senario.
TIM STOKER GET OUT OF MY FUCKING DRAFTS PLEASE.

Something clatters from behind the island in the kitchen area as Jon sets an old kettle onto the counter beside two cans of something; soup, maybe. Leaving Jon to quickly move to another drawer.
Watching from the other side of the room, he quickly realises Jon has the Beholding on overtime as every drawer and cupboard has exactly what he looks for. Soon there's a pot, cans of something or other, bowl (Single), utensil (Again, single) and some tins – maybe tea? Daisy doesn't drink it, so it's a bit strange. He's not even sure if Jon's aware of what he's doing, but he is. He remembers worm-scar eyes staring into Martin's skin; seeing him, focusing. Making sure Martin knows he Known. Each and every eye twitching and shifting, blinking independently of Jon's, like a natural instinct. Each one bursting from the marks on his skin.
"–I couldn't find any tea, the tins are coffee, but–"
"Jon."
He finally stops, looking straight to Martin owlishly, "yes? Martin?"
"Your," Martin thinks for a moment, fishing words out of the bucket of slop his brain is right now, "Your 'Beholding' again."
First few days in the cabin.

So, good on all fronts. Jonathan clocks in at six or six thirty (on the dot,) so Tim needed to be early. He has no idea how bad the mess is and if he doesn't deal with it Jon'll believe Tim's been cultivating spiders behind his desk to kill him or something. Because at this rate, Tim's going to come in one day and find a desk plant swaddled in webbing.
Or, suspected Office prank gone so, so wrong.
God I wish someone would bully me into finishing this fic oneshot I'm trying to finish but am slowly loosing steam, ohhh nooo..
