Do need to utilize Magdy being ferociously protective of Mohammed though. Because that's something other characters like him (Paddy, Ráfi, Robin) don't get to to do, because they lean more into a parental role. A parental role where I think it is best if you let your kids know you are there, but you won't talk over them.
Magdy however, though there is undeniably fatherly affection there, sees himself as protector of the family he serves, first and foremost. He already worked for Mohammed's grandparents and came to keep an watchful eye over Ikram as a young woman, which continued once she took over the business. And now he's doing the same for her son. His whole life, he has traded protection and safety for a sense of ironclad loyality and duty. So if anyone tries to mess with Mohammed, he's gonna have to go through Magdy first.
Still need to flesh out the relationship between Mohammed and the other two and Magdy is especially tricky, but I like the idea for all his stubornness, he has a lot of respect for him, because he always had respect for his family. His maternal grandfather, his mother and now Mohammed. It isn't the intense fatherly love Paddy has for his weans nor the also very gentle and involved touch Robin has with the youngins, but Magdy IS fond of Mohammed. He's glad to see what he always found most awe-inspiring, for better and for worse, has survived down the family line, so he will keep laying down his life for it and to ensure that the machine keeps running. He's so dutiful, but now that he saw his boss grow up, there's also a soft twinge that makes him a little fatherly about his duty.
A few weeks ago, @sometimecatsometimenot drew a super beautiful rendition of my OC Magdy! (Maybe they want to post it too, some day? 👀) It made me want to draw him as well, to alter a few things about his appearance. And I thought - Why not draw all of Team Egypt? So here they are, Mohammed and his right hands from my Hetalia AU 'Like Father Like Son'
Magdy (he/him), already worked for Mohammed's grandparents & parents. Truly a fossile of the trade and only wants his peace and quiet that God denies him.
He's also intersex and identifies as a man since his 20s, when he also changed his name. Half Nubian, half Egyptian & a coptic Christian. Has a naturally terrifying aura that demands respect in the best cases and wields terror in the worst. Friendly once you get to know him and don't annoy him though.
Mohammed (he/him) - What to say about him? I butchered his canon design, but he's still a wily pretty boy in my heart <3 Wields his parents legacy and does it with style, a lot of wit and improvisation & organisational talent alike. Only Muslim out of the three!
Rut (they/them) has been working with Magdy & living with him for decades and is the reason he can't get that peace and quiet. Fun for everyone else though if you like a high energy chatterbox! Drama monarch that romanticizes life and loves a spectacle, especially when it distracts from their fuck-ups. Very determined to get their way, too! They're Egyptian like the other two, jewish and non-binary. They also changed their name at some point in their life, probably their late teens, both for affirming their identity & probably actually hiding it purposes.
