Got to thinking about the logistics of fighting in IX because I'm writing a IX-2 audio drama.

You see the Mage Masher?

That silver border around a portion of the blade is the cutting edge. Why it doesn't extend the whole blade length is likely so you could grip it on the blade for a thrust without cutting yourself. You can see this on the Master Sword, too.

Now, you see how Zidane holds the dang things?

He holds them "wrong", as most people would say. But, based on the blades' construction, that isn't wrong. With a curve to the grip so that it fits in your palm comfortably, you're supposed to hold it so the tip faces the ground. The curve to the blades is for hooking around armor, shields, and even whole persons, with the tip being so narrow and sharp to help get between chainmail and even some parts of platemail. The blades aren't designed for slow, deliberate slashes, but quick cuts; slash and dash, as it were.

What you're supposed to do in combat with the Mage Masher is to draw the blade across your enemy, let's say his name is Steiner, so that his arms are pushed away from his front, then swiftly hook the bade behind his shield or under his breastplate to get at a vulnerable spot, like the neck or in between the ribs. If done quick enough, one can turn around and flee before Steiner has a chance at getting a strike in.

But what happens if you miss and get the blade completely behind Sir Rust-a-Lot? The interior cutting edge can slice into him as you pull the Mage Masher away, the slight hook to the tip allowing you to rip into him with ease.

And the beaded leather cord tassels? Most likely an added bit of counterbalance since the pommel isn't that big.

I take a vacation far away from Cainhurst and decide to enjoy the Lucian finery for a while. It’s have been a pleasant journey so far cause most of the time it is @prettyprompto kicking lord of the landfill ass so I only have to record the weapon beauties tho. The scythe are my interpretation base on @repmet ’s weapon shot  so if you use that, please keep in mind that this isn’t the scythe canon design.

These fours would be contribute later in a Weapon Stamp set, along with Soulborne weapon.
