Biggest Challenges Moving From Magento 1 to Magento 2 Development
All the speculation about moving from Magento 1 to Magento 2 is finally coming to an end. If you have questions like “why I should switch from Magento 1 to Magento 2” “I am happy and not ready to transfer to Magento 2” so the answer is here. As declared its end of life for Magento 1.
What is the end of life for Magento 1 is exactly not clear, does it mean it will be shut down or no newer updates will be available for Magento 1. In any condition, it’s time to move to Magento 2.
Why you should transfer from Magento 1 to Magento 2
1. Speed:-
Speed was the major issue for Magento websites development. Magento1 does not have any cache extension to improve the site speed. Third-party paid module was installed to improve the site speed for better user experience. Slow page loading time means more bounce rates and loss of a customer.
Magento2 on the other hand can upload 50% faster and even the checkout speed is higher. Now the waiting time for a page is less than 2 second. Faster checkout means more order handling compared to the predecessors. Varnish cache is an extension added in Magento2 which actually speeds up the page loading time on enterprise and community extension.
2. Payment gateways:-
Magento1 does not have much payment gateways integrated except PayPal & authorize.net. It required the installation of third party extensions to add any payment gateway to the website.
Magento2 already have integrated payment gateways. Apart from PayPal and Authorize.net, there are Braintree which helps to integrate any of the payment platforms on Magento store.
Worldpay, Cybersource integration helps in increasing payment security.
3. Checkout process:-
Magento 1 checkout has 5 steps to complete (Billing, Shipping, Shipping Method, Payment Method, Order Review) the order process. The user cannot view the next step until they will not fill the current step and click on next button.
Magento 2 has a streamlined process, thus making the checkout easier and quicker. Now checkout process includes only two steps it includes only shipping and billing. The payment system is much more transparent now which includes tax calculation also. Image of product and quantity is displayed.
4. Admin Panel:-
Magento 1 has a horizontal menu at the top of every page which covers some of the content areas.
Magento2 has a user friendly and mobile compatible interface. There are filter breadcrumbs which can work for all filter criteria and thus change the whole game.
Now retailer can add all product together rather instead of adding one at a time. Admin interface enables the user to reduce the number of product templates and it's easy to use.

Magento 2 platform is already mobile responsive. There are few more features which make Magento2 user friendly - SEO friendly design, integrated videos, easy checkout. All these features improves the look and feel of Magento stores on screen.
Finally, moral of the story is Magento will not release new security patches for Magento 1 security issues. Magento will still provide support for magento 1.
