Without much thought, you reach out, grabbing the other boy’s wrist before he’s able to open the shop’s door. You had walked over to greet him, but when you saw the place he was heading, you sprinted.
“A-ah--” And now you’re standing outside of the aforementioned shop holding your friend’s arm without so much as a hello, let alone an explanation. “S-sorry, I--” You remember to release him. “I heard this store isn’t that great... Would you like to go to a better one with me?”
As far as you know, and as far as you’ve been told, this store offers the best cooking supplies and variety of spices in the area. It’s closest actual competitor is on the exact opposite side of the city. But even still, last time you came here the owner recognized you as a half-elf. Last time you came here you essentially got thrown out. It had been a painful reminder, an abrupt wake up call. Even people in this city hated you for being born. Even here you had to keep your guard up.
You’ll explain to Genis later.
