6. Favorite fishes?

I love a good deep sea fish. 

Take Blackdragon fish for instance. Only the females have this appearance, the males are tiny and only live long enough to mate and are not able to even eat. A cool fact about these ultra dark fish is that they have a special black tissue that lines inside their mouth and stomach to keep their bioluminescent prey’s light from shining through and alerting potential prey to their presence!

Mudskippers are pretty cool too. They are fish that are amphibious and can breathe air as well as get their oxygen from water. They roll their eyes to replenish their oxygen. They move on land by either crutching (rotating pectoral fins) or by using their tail as a spring board and “skipping.”

9. Do you have an inordinate fondness of beetles?

Beetles are beautiful, yes! When I was younger I wanted to try collecting the ones that baked out on the driveway in the summer, but my mom wouldn’t let me bring them inside so I never actually did collect them, but I still think they’re pretty cool.

11. What’s your favorite blue animal?

One of my favorite blue animals would be the blue glaucus! They are so tiny (only about 3cm long) but so cool. These mollusks actually feed on man-o-wars and incorporate their nematocysts into their own appendages. Most of the time they also are swimming on their backs for better aquatic camouflage. Overall, I just think they’re beautiful.

This is from forever ago, and I apologize it took so long to answer. I just rediscovered it in my drafts, so I’m answering based on one of the new OCs I’m working on developing:

41. What was the worst injury your oc ever suffered? Has it had any long lasting impact on them?

The worst injury Lewis has experienced was losing his leg, among other injuries, as he nearly died on a mission. I would definitely say it had a lasting impact both on how he gets around and on his psyche.

65. If you were to give your oc a new superpower, what would you choose and why? If *they* were to be able to choose, what would it be and why?

If Lewis had a superpower, he would choose for it to be mindreading and telepathic communication because it would make his sneaky conversations with Martin so much easier.

2. What are some common elements of stories you are tired of seeing? What would you avoid writing about? If I never have to see the goddamn Trinity Effect ever again, only then will I find peace. You know the one - a Strong Female Character is at the top of her field, having earned that spot over several years of hard work... and in comes the bumbling male lead, picks up the craft in the matter of days, bests and zooms past her... and even has to rescue her, because she gets inexplicably damselified somewhere along the way.

Also I can’t say I’m tired of teen coming of age stories, because I don’t read them and they aren’t meant for me, but I have no desire to write them, ever.

11. Set the scene for us. What are your settings like and do you have any pictures saved that represent them? Do your characters travel and see more than one? What are their names? I have an embarrassing amount of WIPs so let’s go with Usurper here...

The main location would be basically St. Petersburg, if it already existed in the 1500s, and if the Tatars of Kazany were the ruling class. This city-state still doesn’t have a name.

For this specific WIP I do have a Pinboard to serve as a vague inspiration, both for architecture and a general vibe.

I forgot my Disqus password already lol, but I just finished chapter 3 and asdfghjklj that escalated quickly! And also deescalated quickly!
