#Repost @maggiesteber • • • • • • Nepal Photo by Maggie Steber. In 2000 I spent a total of six months over two trips in Nepal, working on a story for National Geographic Magazine. It was a magical place with very gentle people and mystery all around. I had a rather large challenge before me because Nepal has been widely photographed. And at the same time it was on the verge of changing. I tried to look for moments that showed relationships between animals and people, the land, the culture, and those little moments that aren’t always so visible. This was one of my favorite photographs. I got to ride that elephant bareback when its mahout took it out to gather branches and tall grass for the elephant’s food.
