I have been with my zucchini for about 20yrs. For the last nearly 11yrs, we have lived with their mother. In many ways, this was my mother, too.

Last Monday, she had a massive stroke while sleeping in the chair in the living room with only my zuke at home. Tuesday (barely), she had a massive heart attack from all of the stress the stroke put her body under. ...Wednesday (again, barely), they took her off the ventilator. Then Thursday, she finally passed.

It just happened suddenly and now everything is happening all at once. And it's shockingly expensive, too. Not expecting much, but anything y'all could spare would help, even if it's just the spreading of this link here.

Yeah, no. There is no possible compromise on generative AI. It isn't a tool (implying usefulness) and its fundamental flaws cannot be overcome. Generative AI is simply theft and destruction.

If you think otherwise, go fuck all the way off.

Y'all. I'm just gonna say it:

Erasing canon neurodivergence to replace it with a "more acceptable" headcanon isn't progressive. It's ableist.

And a lot of neurodivergences have either overlapping symptoms or things that could present the same way to outside viewpoints. Refusing to interpret things with the lens of the canon neurodivergence and claiming those things are proof of your headcanon is ableist.

This is especially true with the canon neurodivergence is highly stigmatized and normally only gets villainized representation.

Replacing a protagonist's canon sociopathy with a headcanon of autism is not a neutral act. It is ableist.

I can't believe this still needs to be said, but if you're gonna comment on a fic, make sure that you're commenting about the fic and not recaping info about the canon. Especially something as basic as who is the secondary antagonist of one of the fandoms.

There's a surprising amount of the FFN scammers (currently the "commission artists" who aren't) that past the Turing Test. Like this volume of them would indicate that a lot of them have to be bots, right? But they seem to be actual people.

Shockingly (not), being human doesn't seem to affect their inability to read.

Seriously, folks. Leaving a review that a fic author doesn't accept criticism isn't the "gotcha" you seem to think it is.

If you don't like a fic, you don't have to read it! Just silently exiting is free!

My zucchini is nonbinary and writes a lot of fics with gender-fuckery going on, because that's what they want like. Over a year and a half ago, they wrote a fic where a character claimed a "noble" title that had been left unclaimed by other family members for a time because it didn't match their gender and this title did not change to match. The not-changing aspect was as much a plot point as how the character claiming a title at all would upset another character's manipulations.

They got a series of comments on this fic the other day. A reader decided to "correct" my zucchini, presumably believing that the repeated mismatch was a typo instead of a feature. Then when my zucchini told them that it was not a mistake and they were welcomed to leave without further comment. My zucchini froze the comment threads (yes, multiple ones) to give the reader another clue that this fic is not sparking joy for the reader and the reader should leave.

The reader decided to call my zucchini a teenager, because apparently only teenagers can have any interested in gender fuckery.

My zucchini keeps cackling like the swamp witch they would be if it weren't for swamps being smelly and too damp for books & tech. They haven't laughed this much about something related to their age since they turned 42 and spent the year joking about being the answer.

TL;DR version: Practice gender-fuckery to recapture your youth.

Genuine Reminders

These are just a few things that I think people need to be reminded about:

Bigotry is not a mental illness. It does not to be diagnosed by a professional to be present (and it will never be diagnosed).

Anyone claiming that a specific type of bigotry is a mental illness because it has the suffix "-phobia" is wrong. Phobias are real mental illnesses; bigotry with names ending with "-phobia" are not. Bigots making this argument are just wrong.

They are also not arguing in good faith. They know that they are wrong. They are just trying to dodge accountability for their bigotry.

Calling bigots out on their transphobia/homophobia/xenophobia is not diagnosing them. Nor is it turning a mental illness into a prerogative.

"Transphobe" is not a slur. "Homophobe" is not a slur. Neither is "xenophobe".

Bigots are not allies. No. Not even if they are claiming to defend some other oppressed group. A bigot will only act like they're an ally until a member of the marginalized fails to meet their standards exactly. The moment the member isn't "a perfect victim", the bigot will declare them not a "real " and treat them the same way they would any member of the group(s) they hate.

A lot of bigots believe they are genuinely nice people. This is also not true. If they were genuinely nice people, they would not be bigots.

TL;DR: Bigots are not friends; they're fodder.
