Settling In || Shere and Martin
@professor-lungri
He stood in his office.
And, oh how those two words settled next to one another thrilled him so. His office. Complete with a little name plate and everything. It was exciting is what it was. For all that this mission seemed to be a waste of resources he was very pleased with the life he would be spending the time in. Of course, it was not top priority but he would indulge where he could while he still could.
Only thing was he needed to move in before he could do anything. Spruce up the place a bit. Which is what he had been doing. Adding a bit of color to the room, putting various office supplies within the drawers, filing everything away. As the semester dragged on it would become what most people call cluttered but would be perfectly organized to Martin.
He had also added a plant to the window sill, a potted ZZ plant that had followed him from his room back home, and a place for Archimedes.
There were still a few things to be done, as there always would be, but for now he was going to prep a cup of tea. The electric kettle he’d bought was, honestly, brilliant. He didn’t need to find the kitchens, didn’t even need to leave the room.
He’d been allowed to get through the water boiling, pouring said water, steeping the tea bag, pouring the milk, to sit, and to have that first whiff of a perfect cup of tea. But before he could take the first sip Archimedes startled him.
“WHO is that?” he about shouted from his new perch causing Martin to flinch, the tea slipping over the edge of the mug’s edge at the sudden motion, and right into his lap.
“Blast!” Martin shouted, glaring at the mug, at his trousers. He set the mug down on his desk, flicking his hand to free it of the liquid, too. “For heaven’s sake, what was-!”
He looked up, his eyes catching on a figure in the door way. Oh dear. Martin stared at them for a proper moment before breaking, a sheepish smile softening his stunned exterior. “Hello, sorry, don’t mind me, I’m just scalding myself in here. No need to be intimidated! Please, do come in.”
