DND magic item idea
A wrist band of time telling.
This magical chronometer is fashioned to look like a lizard holding its own tail and automatically resizes itself to fit on your wrist. At any point in time you may ask the chronometer the time and it will respond out loud in common. It provides no other benefits.
The item doesn't require attunement and can be removed at anytime.
The item is not actually a chronometer. It is a small lizard enchanted to speak common. When asked for the time it will respond with its best guess. It is not terribly accurate. When someone asks for the time roll 1d20. If the number is greater than 1 but less than 10 the lizard is off by a few hours in either direction somewhere between 1-4 hours off depending on how good the roll is. If greater than 9 but less than 15 the lizard is off by no more than an hour. Fifteen to 19 the lizard is within the half hour. Natural 20 the lizard is spot on, natural 1 the lizard is wildly off target says it's midnight at high noon.
In order to determine the chronometers true nature the player must make an insight or perception check on the lizard DC 14 (he's been at it a while). The lizard does show up as a magically enchanted object.
