Jax smiled to himself when he felt someone come into bed with him, cuddling up against his back. “Hey, babe. Can’t stay away from me, huh?” He teased, thinking it was Jason returning from a patrol and deciding to join him in his bed. He turned to face him and gasped in shock when he came face to face with Michael instead. “Jesus, Mike. You scared me.”

Of all people, he wasn’t expecting to break down to Yara. He usually liked to close up and keep his feelings inside until they eventually exploded but for whatever reason- he trusted Yara enough to be visibly upset around her. Maybe it’s because she must be hurting too. He realized as she tried to joke with him. “You’re not normally this nice to me.” She never pulled back on punches. Whether it be verbally or physically in training but she was letting her rough exterior fall now as she attempted to make him feel better. “...Thanks.”

Peter let out a little sound of surprise as Yara grabbed his hand and started to dance with him. For one thing, there was no music playing, and for another, he’d never really imagined Yara as much of a slow dance person. “Hi,” he said, with a little chuckle, absently swaying with her. “I realize I run the risk of severe ridicule when I say this, but my mom put me in ballroom dancing classes when I was a kid. Gotham Academy offered them.”

     “And yet I still do” Damian frowned, looking over at her. He had done as she had asked, giving Rachel her space while he was busy training with the league but he hadn’t stopped thinking about her. He had only ever seen love in the way that it was overly romanticized in the kinds of movies and books he’d deny reading to his grave. Hell, everything about his mother and father was a mess to say the very least. But when Damian looked at her, he could feel it in every fiber of his being, and his bones would ache with how much he longed to see her again when they were apart. It wasn’t a feeling he could push down like all of his other ones, and although Damian had never explicitly told her any of this, he was sure she could feel it. “Talk to me, Rachel. Please”

Lois laughed as Jade spoke. “I absolutely agree with you,” she said. “I’ve never really given a shit about what people think of me. It seems like a waste of time, you know? People are gonna form their opinions of you whether you like it or not. There’s no point in spending your time worrying over what they’re gonna do or think or say.”

Peter raised his eyebrows. “When?” he said. “While you’ve been dating Jon, or before, when you’ve been treating me like the team’s pesky younger brother?” He shrugged. He didn’t seem particularly angry, and he wasn’t. His feelings for Yara aside, he’d accepted a long time ago that they weren’t going to happen because she didn’t feel the same way. “And, I mean, I get it. I can’t do all the stuff the rest of you can do. I’ve got my police training, that’s it. I know it’s not the same.” He gave another little shrug. “The point is, there’s never been any point where you ever made me feel like I had a shot. So why would I say anything?”
