After capturing myself the Ormagon, the mightiest of all Dream Creatures, I think I can handle myself one of the Ancients. Then at last, it's time to go home.... Well, maybe after saying my goodbyes. #retro #rpg #magination
As a fan of card games, I have to say that I don’t like the Magic system, and all card games that copied their homework.
Resource systems aren’t my favorite things in games, as I think they artificially slow down gameplay. Magic style games have out the worst, as you have to dedicate deck space and turn time to build up resources to play other cards. Meaning there are entire turns where all you do is just build up mana to play cards later.
The other problem is that many of these games don’t have any 0 cost cards. Meaning that every card requires at least one play point to use. If you can’t pay the cost, you can’t play. Compounded by the fact that most these games have a form of summoning sickness, meaning most cards can’t attack the turn they are played. You could spend several turns building up enough resources to play something to start you combo, only for the opponent to take it out with one card, effectively wasting one if your turns. Not very fun for new/unlucky players.
Personally, I’m a fan of more dynamic and forgiving games like Buddyfight or YuGiOh. They have a ton of cards you can play for free, and have dynamic battle systems allowing for more fun games. And since the game is more forgiving, it incentivizes learning and improving as you play. A dynamic and fun style of card games.
Kayliel, a Magi-Nation Fanart~
Was feeling kind of bummed out about my art the other day, so I went back to one of the earliest things that got me inspired to draw in the first place.
I had a Gameboy game called Magi-Nation, based on a trading card game. I never really figured out how to play the game (I was like, 8), but I had a strategy guide for the game that had pictures of all the cards in the back. I spent more time staring at the artwork and trying to copy it than I did playing the game, lol
I really loved all the monsters, especially the hyrens. So, I try to keep telling myself that even if I’m not always happy with what I’m making, there might be an 8 year old out there that thinks it’s just the coolest, and it’s still worth making.
It was fun to just draw a dragon thing and not think hard about it again.
Idc what you say, the Magi-Nation theme song was catchy as fuck
