This is Primrose and Storm of Team Heroes, and they both belong to Aimer Arts! I know I just drew Team Fate during Hero and Partner Week, but when I saw you were on the other team for Art Fight, I couldn't stop myself from drawing more characters of yours.
(Find me on Art Fight here!)
Higher saturation / potentially eye-straining version under the cut:
For the last day of Hero and Partner Week, I've decided to draw a few surprise gift pieces for some of the PMD artists that I always enjoy seeing on my dash!
First up are Piper and Clementine, and they belong to @aimer-arts. Their dynamic is just too cute, and I couldn't resist drawing them. I hope you like it, Aimer!
@heropartnerweek
My reference/inspo image can be found here. I highly recommend googling "cat kiss photos" if you never have before, because some of the results are too cute for words.
Also, fun fact, I had a massive case of the hiccups while lining this piece. So, uh, sorry for any unusually squiggly lines LMAO.
“Neo and Skitty scramble into the darkness of Lapis Cave through the narrow opening in the mountainside as Shiftry’s gang closes in behind them. They hurry deeper into the dungeon with only the soft glow of precious gemstones to light their way.”
@heropartnerweek
This prompt inspired me to draw a scene in which hero and partner become lost within the Lapis Cave system because they lose their sense of direction while being chased through the dungeon. They travel the same paths over and over again because leaving any indication that they’ve already been down a corridor will lead Shiftry and his team right to them, and any time they spend trying to identify landmarks will allow them to catch up even faster.
Typically when I draw or write fanworks, I don’t envision mystery dungeons as the maze-like environments they are in canon. I went for it in this illustration because I wanted to draw this scene from a top-down perspective, and I thought the long, narrow corridor would look nice. This was also my first time doing lineless character art ever and the first time I’ve drawn a full background in a while, and I’m very happy with how everything turned out!
I’m looking forward to sharing more of my art and seeing everyone else’s creations this week!
I know they’re many people’s least favorites, but I have to confess that I’ve always been a fan of green shinies. Shiny Pokémon like espeon and tangela are some of my favorites, and I used a darker shade of emerald green on this dragonite to emulate the colors of Pokémon like those!
I sketched a few Pokémon in my journal to practice drawing quickly the other day, and I liked how this skitty looked so I decided to finish it digitally! I tried to focus on getting the shading and foreshortening right, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
I did two different versions of the tail and couldn’t decide which I liked better, so I included them both! The first is a basic attack with a motion blur effect to highlight the movement, and the second is meant to represent the move iron tail. The non-glowy version is included under the cut as well.
Next up in my small collection of gift pieces is Amaterasu from @askteamsupernova / @leavingautumn13 ! Their design is amazing (as are the designs of all your other characters on the ask blog), and I had a blast drawing this! I'm looking forward to learning more about Ammy and Surya as you share more art of them and their friends.
I wanted to draw Surya too, but unfortunately I don't have much experience drawing anthro characters and none of my sketches turned out quite right. I might try again once I have more time on my hands! Also! I wasn't sure if she wears bows on just one side or both, so I did two different versions. The version with two sets of bows is under the cut!
This is Nimbus the Altaria/Dragonite fusion! They’re a super cute character and I was looking forward to drawing them since I first saw their listing on Art Fight. I decided to try doing a wiggle animation for the first time, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!
“The falling star continued on its fiery path as Neo and Skitty took their first steps into the tower held aloft in the clouds. The ornate spiral staircase, carved from weathered stone fetched from the ground in a time long since past, seemingly never ended. They leapt cracks in the stairs where stone had crumbled away to the ground far below, slipped beneath crackling storm clouds close enough to touch, and fled from the furious dragons and raptors that chased close behind. They climbed high, higher than any denizen of the ground had ever been before, with the knowledge of what would come hanging heavy on their hearts with every step. Closer, still, the star fell as they stepped, at last, onto the pinnacle of Sky Tower.
This is our last adventure.
The Sky Serpent was waiting for them atop the clouds with scales shimmering emerald and ruby and gold. It watched through onyx eyes, unblinking. Oblivious to the coming destruction of those beneath, it refused explanation and acknowledged only their invasion into its kingdom. The fight was brutal, and ended only when the very foundation of the tower tremored with the the arrival of the star.
I want to stay.
Battered and bloodied, Neo and Skitty pointed skyward toward the blazing star. The Serpent, finally understanding that its life, too, soon would end, took flight from the tower and glided up to meet the falling star. With a deafening roar, it unleashed a brilliant beam of light that split the star in two.
I want more time with my irreplaceable, invaluable friend.
Neo pressed close to Skitty as the sky fell around them.
Perhaps, in another life, we will meet again.”
@heropartnerweek
This prompt inspired me to draw hero and partner saying goodbye to each other atop Sky Tower in the moments before Rayquaza destroys the meteor. Despite hero and partner canonically knowing they’re going to die from the meteor’s destruction, they’re very calm about it, or perhaps in shock about it all happening so quickly. I wanted to draw a scene where they feel a little more emotion than in canon. I also wanted to make something visually simple yet striking, and I think I succeeded!
I didn’t write a summary blurb before drawing this piece like I did for my others this week, so after I finished the illustration I decided to write up some quick microfiction to go along with it. It can also be found on Archive of our Own.
