The texture of Maldha Mohamed’s scintillating eye paintings isn’t just an aesthetic decision – in fact, it goes well below the surface. The Maldives-based painter is inspired by the way that the windows to our soul are so visually multifaceted, while also being emblematic of the human experience as a whole. She explained to @magnaze that the textural appearance in her paintings could be synonymous with a: “person's experiences and memories in life, etched and embedded to complete the fragment that is the eye and make them whole. Much of the purpose behind the technique, though, is to present my subjects in a visceral manner, almost as if they are in a constant battle against time, always fleeting as if they are experiencing life from beginning to end in the blink of an eye.” 🎨ARTWORK DETAILS🎨 Artist: Maldha Mohamed (@malsart) Title: "Fade" 👀 Medium: Oil Date: 2020 ••• posted on Instagram - https://instagr.am/p/CM-_iY3F3Xc/
