Task 001 | Rewrite
The night of the game, Adrian pulled up to the parking lot in his familiar Jeep, cutting the engine to sit in his seat and take a look at the side mirror, watching the large crowds movie into the arena to watch the game. “Great, another familiar night of a win, a party and a ride home.” He mumbled to himself, even watching himself in the mirror. “Who am I talking to?” He questioned before unbuckling his seat belt and getting out of the car. Already, he spotted a group with a keg in their trucks, and cases of beer as well. Dolphins were expected for a win, no doubt about it and the student body was about ready to party for it. Adrian didn’t pay much attention to it, only giving it a look and passing by the group of boys that were starting their celebration early.
Walking to the stands to watch a game he was never really familiar with, he found himself a spot and looked around in case of any sightings from his friends. A wave was sent towards Este when he caught her attention on the field, since she was a cheerleader, he wasn’t able to complain about the sport with her like their days before her popularity. Everything was as it began years ago, the first time around. Adrian stood, watching and cheering the usual fake hoorays for the winning team, but he knew once it was all over and done with, there would be a big celebration and the outcome was easy to figure out, since it happened once.
The crowd cheered from the win and Adrian slowly clapped, as he walked out from the stands himself, onto the green field where everyone was jumping with joy. Hands in his pocket, he walked around with a small grin, he was happy at their win but it was nothing new. The Dolphins were great at keeping their winning streak. Already he saw mounds of people heading off to the celebratory party, even a few of his friends, but he didn’t bother to catch up, only walked up towards his car with a hand on the door. “Should I..?” He questioned on his presence at the party. A sigh escaped his lips as he turned to lean on the car as he watch people leave in cars with his arms crossed. The night was very familiar to him, he went to the party and helped people out and took their calls, drove him home, everything for their safety.
But what if that changed?
Adrian was still himself, but this time he had years to think about his old teenage self. He could feel himself as a different person than used to be. Sure, he wasn’t as tough but that didn’t mean he was still soft and as memory served, he disappointed his parents the next day. Shaking his head, Adrian turned off his new phone—which he still couldn’t figure out beside the on/off button--- and climbed into his car, turning on the engine. He’d go home, he needed to in order to fulfill chores his parents assigned to him. For once, he didn’t want to feel responsible for anyone and he knew it’d kill him but--- maybe change was needed.
