“ Hey moron. If you have time tomorrow, I want to ask for book recommendations. I mean, I’ve only read a small portion of what’s available in the library, so. ”
Tomorrow?!
Tomorrow is-- no, he got ahead of himself. It was the thirteenth of February, not the fourteenth.
Still, he looks... overly excited, his body going rigid with it, like he didn’t know at all how to express it when he leans... posing a certain way against the table.
Yeah! I mean-- yeah, I’ve got time and I know books and things.
He grins and makes an attempt at a wink.

Ivory wings beat steadily against the calm, tepid air as the Pegasus’s body pushed effortlessly through the skies that loomed over the land - her muscular frame decorated in slender armor and the emblem of the kingdom her master had pledged her loyalty to (abandoning any hope of returning to a mundane life now that the war had come to an end). With calloused fingers wrapped loosely in her steed’s mane, Faye’s gaze trailed along the ground as they flew (it seemed so very far away, but the sensation of thrill of flying was something she had adjusted to years ago). A lance was clutched in her free hand; her fingers seemed to wrap around its shaft perfectly, as if her hands had been crafted just for the sake of wielding the weapon, or, rather, that they had been forced to conform to it. Their shadow dyed the dry sands below an eerie silver as they flew well above the old tomb’s ancient lands.
She’d taken the liberty of flying ahead of the handful of knights in training that she had brought along with her, if only to make sure it would be safe for them to land. They were inexperienced and young soldiers who had just earned the trust of their steeds, and she had only allowed them to tag along today due to their insistence and her hope that they might be able to learn something by watching her. But it quickly became apparent that leaving them behind had been a blessing, even from the height she lingered at she could make out the sheer number of tiny, shadowy figures that were huddled around the mouth of the tomb; their armor filthy against the gleam of the sun and their faces ragged and brutish. She’d been informed, of course, about the bandits that had made their den in the crowded ruins that stretched out across the sands, but even Celica hadn’t been certain of their numbers.
And while she was drastically outnumbered, having no intention of doubling back in order to gather up the troops she had left behind for their own safety, she wouldn’t turn her back on the mission that had been entrusted her. Peace was still a fleeting and fragile thing, and she wouldn’t allow the world Alm and Celica had fought tooth and nail for to be ruined by the likes of lowly bandits who had worked up the nerve to attack the innocent people who resided in the nearby village. Tightening her grip on Sue’s reins, she pressed her thighs against the Pegasus’s side and urged her into a downward spiral straight at the handful of guards positioned below. Tucking massive, feathered wings against her side, Sue plunged through the air until her hooves scrapped against the sand, kicking up dust and dirt at the unsuspecting men while Faye’s lance was quick to meet its mark. Soundlessly, Sue’s hooves settled into the sand before the tomb.
While taking out the three guards had been a simple task, she had no way of knowing how many lurked below or how skilled they were (perhaps she should send one of her trainees back to the palace in for aid - that would waste too much time, though, and could place the citizens in further danger). Gritting her teeth, she glared down the dark and narrow path - she would have to do this alone. Alm and Celica couldn’t waste more soldiers on a bandit problem, and the last thing she wanted to do was cause them trouble when they already had so much weighing down their shoulders that she couldn’t even imagine the burden they had both been forced to carry, Steeling herself, she squeezed the pole of her lance, and readied herself to slip inside.
But a sudden tug at the reins held within her palm halted her advance as Sue suddenly jerked to the side, shifting to face a lone figure that must have been hidden until now. “Who -” Her words fall dead upon her tongue as she squints her eyes against the harsh glare of the sun and recognizes, if only vaguely, the fine details of the person before her. “Kliff...is that you?” Her voice is uncertain, and her posture remains tense. She didn’t want to risk getting caught off guard in her assumption was wrong. “It’s not safe, you shouldn’t be here.” Hesitation laces her voice - it’s been years since she’s him; the only proof she had that he was even still alive was the strange letter that she had found in her grasp one day (and it had been months, perhaps even years since she had stumbled upon it).
