HAPPY NEW YEAR
We were sad not to send out Christmas cards this year. They are always such a fun project for us (check out some of our previous ones: 2014, 2013, 2012, 2010, 2009) but Patrick did make this little modern cuckoo clock illustration for New Years. If only I could build it for real!
Typically, New Years isn’t much of a big deal for me, partly I think it’s because having school-aged kids means my life is more synched with the rhythm of September being the start of a new year. But this January is a little different.
Patrick and I only had a few weeks in December to start working on our full-time design business. It was great, and we were much busier than we anticipated. Then school let out. We love having the kids home, but it definitely changes the dynamic in the studio. So, last month ended up feeling more like the “soft launch” of the Mahoney Studio, and we are excited to see what January brings.
In addition to launching our business, 2016 has a few other good things in store. We are taking a family trip to Jamaica, Patrick and I are celebrating 15 years of marriage this summer, and Alden starts middle school in the fall!
We also hope to tackle a few more home improvement projects now that Patrick is home so much more. The deck is currently in mid-construction phase right now, and we have some plans to knock out some closets in the living room to open up our stairwell.
Here’s to a great year full of family and friends, thrifty goodness, and projects of all kinds!
