John Gallagher was fairly certain that the first years soon to be walking these halls would have an easier time navigating Hogwarts than he was currently having: at least they’d have a guide. As it was, John was embarrassingly lost.
The paintings had been no help (not that they ever had been, if his memory served correctly), and John had begun to despair about ever finding his room when he noticed someone walking down the corridor. He waved them over, his acceptance to the role of professor letter in one hand. Oh, he was relieved.
“Sorry, hate t’be a bother! Bu’ do y’think you can help me? Haven’ been here in ages, an’ ‘m desperately tryin’ t’find the Defense Against the Dark Arts room so tha’ I can a’ least be somewha’ settled in before tomorrow.” He sheepishly scratched his ear, unable to make eye contact, feeling more like a student than the accomplished auror that he was.

The Doctor had been promising Rose a beach vacation for a while and he decided today was the day to finally deliver on such a promise. “I’m going to use the randomizer to find us a random beach, with a few specific settings to make sure it’s a safe one and a good one, with few to little people and an environment similar to Earth, if not on Earth itself,” he told her as he programmed, “I suppose you might want to go get ready, I’ll let you know in a few moments when we arrive.”
He programmed the TARDIS exactly as he promised, pulling switches and pushing buttons and finally pulled down the last lever for the TARDIS to take off, landing just a few minutes later as promised. “We are here,” the Doctor called out to her.

“Hey- Hey hey hey, shhh, it’s okay...” The Doctor gripped both her hands in his as she seemed to panic, taking her grasp from his coat and into his own. “Rose- Rose, can you look at me?” he asked softly, his eyes flicking between hers, checking her pupil response. “Try to focus on me, okay? I’m right in front of you.” He felt his hearts clenching in anxiety and his brow furrowed with worry.
A day and a half. That was how long he had lost track of her. An entire day and a half. How could he have been so careless? Of course, of course he always told them not to wander off, but he knew they never listened. He should have been keeping a better eye on her. And then she had gone and gotten herself captured and-
He would never forgive himself if something irreversible had happened to her.

“Rose?” the Doctor smiled as he walked into the TARDIS console room, “I have an important question. I know Earth has this tradition called Valentines day and I know from looking at your calendar that it is today. I was wondering if you would be my valentine?”
