Who Gathers the Lost?

The storm was getting worse. The waves battered the grey ship, splashing over the railings. Rossiel fought for her balance, and lost as the next toss sent her tumbling to the deck. Where had Ossë gone? Hadn't he promised to bring the vessel safely to the Undying Lands?

Something cracked.

The next moments went by in a whirl of confusion, and yet seemed to stretch on forever. The icy water was surrounding her, soaking into her traveling-clothes, weighing her down. She tried to cry out for Lossereth - for her guard and bondmate - but the water stole her voice away, burned in her throat and filled her lungs.

And then there was nothing.
