Oh! I didn’t expect to elaborate on my comment :P I don’t know, I was really looking forward to it, and it sort of just…fell flat for me. I think my main issue was the overly forced characteristics of both the male protagonists. Their personality just felt strained, and the dialogue was oddly paced at times. I’m quite fond of both Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill, and I honestly considered leaving halfway through the movie because they both started getting on my nerves. I didn’t find any of their traits particularly likable or charming. The movie was also riddled with plot-holes and unnecessary scenes that didn’t add to the overall story. Some of the cinematography was also a little odd, and the action sequence in the third act that was shot in panels was just horrible. (Interesting, and fast-paced, but horrible. At least for me)That being said, I loved most of the scenes with Gaby, and her personality worked for me. The costume design was immaculate. The outfits that Victoria wore were stunning.I also enjoyed the fact that there was a female “villain” that wasn’t a scorned lover or a pretty face with a revenge plan. She was a fully fleshed out character that was powerhungry and intelligent. And her husband was a playboy pretty-boy. Also the musical choices in the movie were amazing. Weird as hell, but amazing and pretty consistent with the timeperiod. So it was a mixed bag for me, which is why is think it was…”aight”.
